Headers for the V6?

So, I was thinking about how to get headers onto a V6 camaro and I realized that holden has been using the HFV6 family (under the Alloytec name) for years and thought that there must be some headers available for some of their engines. And, since the entire family uses the same heads, they should bolt right up, except for possible clearance issues and issues with 02 sensors being different.

I found these.

They also have this set of shorty headers designed to leave the cats in the stock location (should be emissions legal as long as you leave/make provisions for the 02 sensors).

I wouldn't call it a sure bet, but it seems worthy of further research.

Nice find! I'll be looking into these, as long as they fit of course.

Yeah... I would definitely spring the money for those LTs and just move the stock cats back, but I don't know if they would fit.

On another related note - their engine bay seems just as cramped as ours is, if not more so. Heres a picture of ours:

And one of theirs:

Makes me feel better about clearance issues.

OH yes, the engine in that second pic is and engine that I will not like to work on. I think from the pictures that we should have plenty of space. I hope. At least in the V6.

In the engine compartment we will, of that I'm sure. What I'm worried about is if it will clear the tranny crossmember, if we'll have room for cats after the headers but before the x-pipe (looking at some magnaflow spun-cats - they're compliant everywhere except california and would require no more than about a foot of space for both cats on each side), etc. etc.

And with that stuff, there's no real way to know till we get them up under the car.

Or wing it. A lot of that stuff can be fabricated on the fly.
- Xanthos

P.S. - But the difference in emission systems might pose more of a problem.

Yeah, that might shed some light on the issue. We also have several pics of the engine bay on here somewhere. I'm just scared to start looking.

Looks like the header would fit without any clearance issues. It would not be emissions legal (but when is a long tube ever emissions legal) because we would have to move the first cat back to where the second cat is.
- Xanthos

P.S. - but what that DOES mean is that the shorty header should be emissions compliant.

just install them from below.... like most headers have to be.

one thing to check is the clearance for the steering shaft and all that as well as the actual body style of the cars you are comparing them to.

or if you are willing to wait a little after you get your camaro..... pull your exhaust off, mail it to me and I'll fab you up some stainless headers to replace your stock manifolds/cats.

How long does that usually take / how much does it usually cost? I would love some long tubes if I could get them to be emissions compliant.
