It’ll be interesting to see if Steve Carlisle changes it. It was a JdN naming scheme, much like his changing Infiniti’s naming scheme before leaving them for Cadillac. I don’t know if Carlisle is/was a fan of that or not. In any event, it might be at a point where making another change so soon creates more confusion than it fixes.

Yeah, if they abandon the CT#/XT# system ... what do they do with the XT4, XT5, and CT6?

a) Let them keep going along side the new models with 3rd naming structure in 5 years.

or

b) Slap the new nomenclature on them mid-generation.

I don't think either one of those is a good option. Which unfortunately means sticking with CT#/XT# for the foreseeable future might be the best way to go. And that sucks.

I just can't wait for someone to try and ramble of specs at an auto show.

I'm all for slapping names on the current stuff (preferably at a MCE or new model intro) and dropping the letters even if its drastic. Lincoln is doing it slowly but surely, and I think its a good thing.

Imagine calling the Escalade an "XT8". Does anyone here like that idea?

Spot on. People buying American cars prefer names. Euro models get away with it, but every time GM or ford tries it, it tanks.

Yes, especially since they had some very good names. Like Impala, Malibu, Catalina, Bonneville, and Grand National. I always thought Acura Legend Coupe was a good name. Now it's something like TLX.

Silverado ZH2.

Appears to also be a preview of the HD truck from the grille and mirrors.

They mistakenly tried to draw on the Galaxy 500 and Fairlane 500 without picking one of them and running with it.
