Hell a 4.6L GT can't even keep up with todays Mustang and Camaro V6's, not without mods anyway.

It's a fast truck, TRUCK being the key word. That's like saying your Camaro is a one trick pony. Let me see you tow a boat, go off road, or haul lumber in that turd.

The pre 01 2V 4.6 maybe, the 02+ 2V, and the 05+ 3V is definitely faster than the current crop of Mustang and Camaro V6 cars.

Stock for stock, I don't see a new edge 2V GT beating a modern V6 Mustang. I think even the S197 3V GT would be a close race with the edge to GT depending on rear gear and manual or auto.

Modern V6s are already there on horsepower, just lacking in torque. It won't be long though. All that being said, I would still take an 05-09 S197 GT over a V6 Camaro or Mustang.

It has tunes in it from Eric Eldruth at Innovative. Its fast. He is one of, if not the best ford diesel tuner alive today. A legend.

To the diesel nay sayers, pick up a copy of Diesel Power sometime and do some reading. Today's diesels can haul one more thing than they used to.

OP, the big tires with no gearing changes is definately going to hurt him, but the torque he has............

My money would be on the Camaro unless you miss a couple of shifts and then it might be a close race. One of my local 1/8th mile dragstrips has a Diesel Shootout race once a month and so far I haven't seen a street driven diesel truck that has ran anywhere close to a 9.00 yet in the 1/8 mile. From my experience at the tracks that I race at you always seem to hear about someone that knows a person with a fast diesel truck but you never actually see it run in person, kind of like a Unicorn.

Here's a video of a Ford Diesel making a pass at Elk Creek. It ran a 9.97@61 MPH in the 1/8th mile.

Yeah, now that I looked more into it, you're right The new edge Mustangs were mostly in the 14s, with a few going into the high 13s. The S197s did a bit better, but the best one of all the 4.6s seems to be the 2010. Thanks for the correction.

Hes probably making 900+ lbs of Torque. Launching that in 4x4 and not breaking something is going to mean that SS is going to be playing catch up pretty badly.

My ole 6.4 would keep up pretty well with the new SS. I was putting down 630HP and close to 1100 RWTQ. I never tried to launch it in 4wd because I was afraid I would break something.

That's what I think would get me at least off the line, being the torque and 4Hi 15psi boosted launch

2 wheels to push the power through or 4... Which will put the most strain on per axle, you think?
