Why is headlight tint illegal?

I understand why but don't agree with window tint being illegal. I can see why tinted tail lights are illegal as it's a saftey issue. But Headlight tint should not be an issue in my opinion. Aren't there cars with hide away headlights from the factory like Vettes for instance? As long as a headlight emits the proper illumination at night shouldn't it be okay to tint it? The reason I ask is because I replaced my stock LS headlight bulbs with HOD bulbs from AAC when i bought my fog lights because the stock lights looked yellow in comparison and I wanted them to match better. But now I get people flashing their high beams at me all the time cuz well they are kinda bright. So I got some headlight tint and put it on today. Now I'm worried about getting hassled by the man. I needed to tone down my bright @$$ lights anyway. And eventhough I'm not a big fan of the all blacked out look, the tint does look killer on my black car. But let me tell you it was NOT as easy as the youtube videos of people who install these tints in a matter of seconds make it look. It took me a couple hours just for the two headlights and I didn't do a perfect job I got some wrinkles that I just couldn't get out. LOL

Because they lower your illumination of the roadway! Its pretty simple, you put it on and don't see as good as if it wasn't there.
Tint on your headlights give them cause to stop you and its doesn't matter if you have aftermarket bulbs to make it brighter.
Kind of like running no front plate in states that require it! Accept it as a possibility of a ticket and move on or take it off

Your forgetting that the Corvettes with hide away headlights open up to full view when turned on.

So using your example, if you could slide that tint off the headlights when they come on would be the same situation as the Vettes.

But if you tint them, you won't have the same illumination at night.
Just putting in a brighter bulb to compensate for the tint is not the same.

I haven't run them at night yet I'll have to see if my vision is impared at all. I can't imagine they will make that much difference as I said my HOD bulbs are bright as hell.
