New iPod Shuffle

I just got the new iPod shuffle for the sole purpose of using it in my Camaro when it arrives. It is perfect. It is tiny, and has a short USB dongle to plug right into the USB port. No buttons, and looks great. Holds 1000 songs. And did I mention it was tiny?

Two reasons why I wouldnt do a thumb drive:
1- Its just waiting for you to reach your hand in while not looking and snap off in the usb port
2- iPod interface

To each his own. I just wasted 125 bucks on an Ipod and so far. I'm only impressed by what it looks like. USB for me. Saves me headaches. I can easily add music to it, and It only costs 25 bucks to carry around 1000s of songs...

I agree about to each his own. Just becareful with that WD drive. Platters melt in heat, and freeze in cold. They also skip when bumped around and could scratch the platters.

Just looking out.

A ipod is nothing but a hard drive with a screen on it. i leave it in my car all the time, cold and hot. and its fine. so why would a regular hard drive have any problems

Which iPod? And it's still not a good idea, no matter what iPod. Main reason: the battery. Here in FL, one summer of leaving an iPod in the car every day is good enough for an all but dead battery. The heat destroys Li-Ion batteries.

I'll throw a +1 behind a usb thumb drive. If you're worried about it breaking, get a little extension coord for a few bucks and use that.

If you like using the battery, I wouldn't reccomend leaving it in your car on hot days. As previously mentioned, it also stresses the hard disk. Don't believe me? Maybe you'd believe Apple.
