Just thought I'd throw it out there for discussion. I'm a Yankee fan and you're right, he will be missed.

A true class act! Pitched his last innings ever last night. Girardi had Pettit and Jeter pull him from the game. First time ever one "player" let alone two pulled a pitcher from a game. Girardi spoke to the umpires prior to doing it to make sure it was "legal," There was no precedent to go by and they could find nothing in the rule book banning it so they said go for it. All three broke down on the mound as Pettit is retiring this week also and all 3 were called up to the Yankees from the minors in 1995.

The Greatest Closer ever to wear any uniform... class Act from the very start to the very end....

My son, posted an intersting fact that he heard....I suppose one of the announcers made the comment, that the number of men that have walked on the moon is 12... the number of men to manage an earned run on Mariano in the playoffs for his major league career is 11....

I'm a huge Yankees fan and seeing Mariano go is sad. He was one of the players that got me to be a Yankees fan. The others were the ones pulling him off the mound. Players like Mariano, pettite and jeter will never be replaced. Mariano is easily the best ever at what he does and he will be one tough act to follow.

As a baseball fan, he is a legend and he set a standard.

As a Rangers fan, good riddance!
