Any bad reviews on using the scoop? Just wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with rain or splashing through puddles and water making it to the filter, or even worse to the engine?

No issues I've ever heard of unless you become a "U-boat commander"!

Anybody want to name that movie?

Pretty much. In order for water to get to the air box it would have to enter the scoop, negotiate a 45 degree corner, make a 90 degree turn upward, and then climb about 12 inches vertically. While the scoop does direct additional cool dense air flow into the intake it does not create a vacuum capable of doing all that. Water vapor condenses against the back wall of the scoop and is drained through weep holes in the bottom rear corners. The only way I can see forcing enough water into the intake to hydro lock it would be for you to hit standing water at least as deep as the DRLs and with a bit of speed. And if you do that you are going to have plenty of other problems to worry about.

Haha. I hear ya. Thanks for the feedback! It was just a thought in the back of my mind being that I haven't seen the installed product in person.

I have the Apex scoop installed on my car. Thru major Texas rain storms and hot summer heat I still think purchasing the scoop was a great idea.
I also can say without a doubt that the APEX scoop build quality is top notch.
I'm an engineer by trade, and when this thing arrived at the house I was impressed... and for me that's saying a lot.

Apex's scoop is the best bang for the buck, outstanding build quality!

I have some video and images that might be of help on my old computer, let me see if I can get them together and I'll post them up.
The video relates to the intake air temps & the images show the effects of the scoop on the inner hood lining... proving that the scoop is redirecting a lot of air to the intake filter on my car.

I just skimmed through this entire thread, forgive me if I missed it, but was the title question ever answered? Lol

I mean, I'm shopping around for a scoop, and wondering if the air entry point is the exact same spot for all of the differing models out there. I'm asking because I'm considering brake ducts to help with brake cooling on the track, so I want to make sure all of this is done right with no no interference amongst the said parts.

The first page goes into the details. They all do install in the same location.

Pretty quickly we realized that the thin material and multi-piece riveted construction of that scoop was pretty flimsy and we did not want our product associated with that level of quality (or lack thereof).

With that we took a different approach. First, we selected a thicker gauge material and developed a design that could be cut as a single piece with the exception of one panel. Once it is cut out it is put on a press brake to bend it into shape and the seams are welded. Once that is done they are sent to powder coating and then they are boxed up and put on a shelf ready to be shipped. The ENTIRE process takes place right here in Louisville, Ky..
