I'm no longer stressed with video

My boys are wrestling in the Area VII PA state qualifier in the morning. John 10 years 70lb and Jeremy 8 years 55lb. A team mate and another friend are spending the night and they are all laughs. I'm so on edge it's ridiculous. I feel like I drank 10 pots of coffee. Just hoping I don't transfer my worry to them and they have some good matches.

Adding video in post 11

I feel more anxious when my kids compete than I did when I was. lol

Remember when you competed. It was a lot of fun and not too many worries. That's how they feel.

Your worrying is for their feelings if all doesn't go well. But if you can look back at your own childhood, and remember that that's how they feel, it might calm you down. That's what I always did.

Easier said than done, I know.

8 year olds wrestling??!! I would love to see that I grew up in a small small east Texas town and we only had the major sports (f-ball, b-ball, baseball). Good luck to your boys

Thanks all. Yes 8 year olds. Youngest I've seen is 4 but our best wrestler started right before his 3rd birthday. This is my kids 2nd year and they love it. As a parent it gets very intense. My wife has to force herself to watch and does it from as far away as possible. We've met nicer people at wrestling than any other sport. I've had parents and coaches from other schools help coach one of my kids when they've both been up at the same time. The kids all make friends and will pal around until match time. Then they will beat the hell out of each other and be back to friends after the match. We've even been going to other schools practices getting ready for this tournament and the coaches treat them like their own wrestlers while were there. With luck I'll upload a couple of their matches tomorrow night. Night all

Hopefully, they'll be able to keep wrestling until colleges come knocking with athletic scholarships in hand

Here is some video from the tournament today. Jeremy won 3 and lost 2. John was winning his first match 4-1 with 20 seconds left when the kid got the upper hand. He bridged, aggrevated a nerve in his hip and got pinned. His next match was 7 matches later. He still had tears in his eyes but said he wanted to go. He couldn't bend over to put the anklet on so I forfeited the match. No state tournament for my boys this year but I was still very proud of how they did. John was able to walk fine about 3 hours later.

Jeremy match 1 http://s596.photobucket.com/albums/t...5.flv&newest=1

Jeremy match 3 http://s596.photobucket.com/albums/t...3.flv&newest=1

John match 1 http://s596.photobucket.com/albums/t...1.flv&newest=1

Just ignore the woman talking in the video, she has no idea what she's talking about.

A woman I know is constantly on my case about that. She had two wrestlers. They both went to Blair Prep and one is now wrestling for Princton (and qualified for the ncaa tournament) and the other wrestled at Yale until his premature death from cancer last December. I keep telling her "Cindy, they are 8 and 10!"

Thanks for sharing the videos with us...your boys rock!!!...

You are right about them only being 8 and 10...don't rush away their lives...they grow up too fast as it is...enjoy them in the present moment and cherish all the time you have with them as they are growing up....

You are a good Dad, Jamie!!!...

Seems to be pretty common in wrestling. My brother had similar stories from when he was doing it in high school and now again as a coach
