That is a really good point....regardless they are still going in the backseat with a small window, even if it is just a bit more room than the camaro.........

Regardless of seating room and comfort, if you stuff your kids back there you're still stuffing them into a dark cave/prison from which they pretty much get to stare at the back of your headrests and see nothing during the trip.

Also, my wife just rolls her eyes at my fun cars anyhow, so I have no "request" to make my car more user-friendly. She avoids riding in my stuff like the plague, regardless of the back seat friendliness!!

But yeah, if you're wife is into the cars, I get it totally. Can you get a clean used AMG CLS63 for $45K-ish??

Back to the other post, it was an '09 SRT8, so you've got valid points. But a big heavy car is always going to feel big and heavy, I still doubt it feels as spry as the SS, and certainly doesn't attack corners like my SVTPP.
Actually the Camaro and Challenger feel really similar driving to me, they both feel heavy, but with sxcellent rides and still turn excellent. Actyally love driving both. Love driving the Mustangs too, but the feel is different. it definately feels lighter and kind of like an eager puppy, it is constantly urging you to play and always feels on edge and kind of misses the ability to just feel relaxed like the Camaro and Challenger, not a bad thing, just different and I love the way all 3 go about there business.

Doesn't the Camaro only have 2seats in the rear and 2 seatbelts? Didn't he say he has a family of 5? that is where the Challenger holds the advantage here, it has 3 across seating in the rear vs 2

My vote is take the extra money that you would have had to pay on the SRT8 and put it into your SS. Some really nice mods can be made for 18k. JMO.

Don't know if it has been mentioned or not, but i heard that the challengers can't be tuned. If it can't be tuned i don't really think you could do engine mods. I could be wrong about this but if it's true and you had planning on doing some mods, maybe thats something to think about...

I think they are having a lot of problems breaking the ECU for 2011/12.....will happen, but big question is when.

Who knows it may happen today? I will say it has been a very long drawn out process for several weeks. Considering the initial offer was no trade and 49k for the car, to where we are now, it's been worth the wait to ice them a few weeks.
I just got $27,500 for my 1SS with 18,000 miles on it. No visible mods....but, it was a very difficult sale. They started at $26,000 and I wouldn't even think about that. There were lots of incentives from GM as well, but I doubt there are any on a 392 Challenger. I would have to think hard about taking the 392, but it would be unique.

You don't even need a 392 Hemi to beat a ZL1.

I love the SS but the Challenger is awfully nice as well, and it will fit my entire family in it.

Should I seek mental health treatments for considering this?
I'd pass. It is a pretty good deal but you'll have a year-old car in a few months time when the 2013s show up. If lugging the family around is really your main concern, the Challenger isn't any more practical than the Camaro, just bigger. So you get a car that's no more useful than the Camaro but a much larger monthly payment. If you were considering maybe a used C63 or something, that would be a different story. Plus you're still taking a pretty sizable loss on the Camaro--even if they give you $27K (which I think is a bit low), that means all your mods and labor are worth basically $0. Financially, it doesn't make sense to me.

I agree with most of what you said other than the Challenger is a 5-passenger vehicle where the Camaro is a 4, that's the key. So far they have not accepted my request, i'm in no hurry and I can wait. If the deal doesn't happen it's not the end of my world. My guess is they waited for this holiday weekend to see if they could sell it, as its a big car shopping time.

Mods while always a good idea at the time can really cost you if you do not plan on keeping the vehicle. You will actually not only loose the price of the mods (in most cases), you will loose value of the car as it was compared to stock. The market for these modified cars is very limited, and dealers do not want to chance the car on a trade in.

I tend to swap vehicles every 3 years or so myself. Should I swap to a SRT all that I will do is drag radials and a CAI, which would still put it on par with my cammed SS. I don't want to end up in this scenerio again,

He is getting a heck of a deal on the 392 and I believe there is either 1000 or 1500 cash back right now, which i am sure was included in the deal.
