Ok, heres my problem. I really want a manual 1SS/RS, but at the same time I want to play it safe and just get the automatic, I've never driven manual transmission before so I dont even know if its for me or not. Would it be wise to get a manual 1SS and use that right off the bat, or just get the auto transmission? I currently have an automatic '07 Mustang, and had alot of fun in it, but got sick of everyone saying "oh its automatic"

Is it tough to learn manual? I know the basics of it, never applied it though lol.

also, roughly what speeds are each gear (such as 1st gear is up to 20mph, 2nd gear is 20mph-35mph etc etc) thanks.

Learning to drive a stick is no different than learning anything else. There is no super duper special skill required that someone must have to drive one. What do you mean 'what speeds are each gear'? Are you asking for the top speed/gear? If so, then are you asking for stock? There's a graph that shows those speeds that one of our more brainy(

) members has produced, but I don't have it tagged.

If you can coordinate your hands and feet to change gears, the sound of the engine and rpm's will tell you when to shift. It's just a matter of practice and experience.

Even though I bought a manual, If I had to drive this car every day in traffic.... I would have gone with an Automatic. To really understand and appreciate a manual, it owuld be best to learn how to use one before making the financial commitment.

Then it would be based on your own personal experience. You have to make the final call about that with which you can live.

If you do mostly city driving, then it might be better to get the auto. If you don't drive too much in the city, then shifting is more fun. The choice is yours.

i hav a manual camaro and its my first manual. but i do have experience with other manuals but never actually owned one till now. I can honestly say i DO NOT regret it. i love it. but i would recommend finding a friend who will let u practice with theres or find a rental car place that has manuals. all manuals feel different but as long as u kno what to do you will adapt to it.

as for the speed between gears. . . i honetly dont pay attention i kno when to shift by feel but i tend to rev the rpm high and shift at 3k rpm normal driving. obviously higher rpm when really gettin on it.

Probably worth it to learn how to drive a stick so you can know for yourself if you like it or not. For a car with this much power, I find shifting to be a blast!!! Plus, you get an LS3 with 26 more HP.

im also deciding between an auto and manual. I keep hearing manual is fun and every you need so right now im trying to learn by researching on the internet then when i buy i'll probably have my dad teach me how to drive....im sure he'll be more than happy to help! lol

Along the same line... I think it's a pretty valuable skill set to be able to drive [almost any] stick shift. Once you learn one you pretty much know them all. Never know when that drunk friend, injured person, or roofie'd girl from the bar who turns out to be daddy's little girl driving his expensive sports car for the night needs to get somewhere

I drive in LA so i hav ALOT of traffic! i still dont regret getting a manual. yea at times it can be a pain but the amount of fun i have being more in control of the car doesnt campair.

i went with the automatic because with the in town driving,6 gears is too many for me.now if it was a 4 speed i would have got one.
