So you must have driven right past my house on I-10 going West and didn't stop in.

Always a place to stay if you're in the area.

Here is a video Tyler Brummel did over the weekend of the Mile runs.... Nively done.... Tyle just graduated from High school....

Notice in the left aprt of the wind screen at 6:28 you'll see some water spray up the glass.... and that was at the 3/4 mile mark, I got out of it immediately and pulled the chute... no repeat of last oxtober.... I'm slow but I do learn.... hopefully everything is good with the motor.... We'll know in a couple of days...

"No I don't need you, bye!" Haha. Nice car and great run. Were you nervous at going 200? Or did it even feel like you were doing 200+?

How to answer that... Hmmm.... I would be lying if I didn't say there are some pretty serious butterflies the first run of the weekend, and then very minor ones after that...

Let me post a disclaimer first:

Everyone thinks they are the best driver they have ever ridden with... It's human nature since as the driver you have the largest percentage of control of your vehicle... Only so much can be done about the other knuckleheads on the road... In the two driving accidents I've ever been in, the first was due to gross negligence of the other driver and faulty turn signal indicators (left indicated right and vice versa) and a guy ran into me from behind while sitting at a stoplight in traffic... I'll also say that I drive pretty fast all the time... Or, I don't dally around on the road...

Having said that...

I trust my abilities... I trust my builder and I trust the car... I'm not a worldly race car driver... I don't have thousands or even hundreds of passes at really high speeds... I learn something new every pass, if not multiple things every pass... I also due to ADD, have the ability to, as my doctor put it, hyper focus on specific tasks... Driving being one of them... In my case...

I can read a text paragraph and not remember what I read when I get to the end of the paragraph, but I can read a novel half way through and put it down for six months and pick it back up and start reading where I left off just like I never stopped.. With complete and total INSTANT recall of the storyline and events of the book... It's like that when I'm driving... Every little nuance of the track, the car, past occurrences, lessons learned are right there for Instant recall... Last October, we blew a head gasket, I didn't know that what happened at the time... But I learned from it... This time, literally the instant I saw the water hit the windshield, I knew, stabbed the clutch, lifted off the skinny pedal, and dumped the chute all at the same time...

I knew the motor was hurt, and I knew I didn't want to go into the shutdown area at 200 plus with no power steering, no power brakes and a dead motor... I could have easily coasted into the finish line and had my 205-220 pass, but what happens if I'm dumping oil on the ground... I would rather wait and make a good pass, and have that ability than to wad the car up and not have the chance...

Long read and I'm sorry for that, but yes, there are nerves, butterflies, uglies, whatever you want to call them, but I accept them and get in the car and push her for everything we are worth... I make mistakes as well... Hence the tires blown off and getting sideways in one run of the video...I pushed a bit too hard too early and the tires decided enough... I had several people tell me they would have straightened her out and pressed on... And if she had come back after the first dart to the left, I would have, but when she darted right again, nah... I'll abort it and try again after checking everything... It might have been me, it might have over boosted, etc... I didn't know so let's check before pushing her again..

Excellent video!

Sounds like there's a bump in the runway mid-way thru third gear, has that been a problem?

Today I learned a unladen 747 can take off at 160mph

That bump is huge, and the one at the end is what set off the onstar deal... The front end is usually up when we hit that one.... I was hanging in the chute at 200 when I hit it this time....

They have worked on fixing the bumps but they are certainly still there... in one of the passes, you can see the brake lights, and that was not my foot, it was the force of the bump on the car causing the brake pedal to compress onto the switch...

If onstar came on you may have hit enough g force to deploy air bags! That was funny tho lol

Did you disable the bags when you put the cage in?

I believe his front air bags are still operational. The side air bags and seat air bags have been disabled, though

Cool chute pics! The virgin chute pull story from Robert was pretty good too lol

I wonder if excessive speed kicked on the onstar... strange
