Surprisingly I've passed by hundreds of cops, sheriffs and troopers with the license plate down and the LED scanner going and have been left alone.
Just last night I pulled up behind a cop, plate down, scanner going and he just went on his business.

I put mine on. I've found that if you're just speeding and not doing anything else wrong, it's not too hard to get let go without a ticket. If you give them any other reason to ticket you (no front tag, tinting, driving erratically etc.), then you're done for. 10 years of driving, 0 speeding tickets and too many verbal and written warnings to count.

i went the cheap way. 20 pack of zipties from lowes for 3$. just zip tie it to the lower grille and cut it off when ever i need to. Covered the back of the plate with foam tape so it doesnt scratch the paint
