5th Gen Console '67

I am restoring a '67 Camaro. It is a V-8 car and will be a Black RS/SS Clone with white bumblebee when complete.
I do not care for any of the consoles made for the '67 whether factory or repro and I do not want to spend the dough on a complete one off. So I was thinking of going with a 5th Gen console in my '67. Mine is an auto on the column so I would make up a filler panel for the shifter and gauge area and either paint the thing tuxedo black or cover it in a matching interior black vinyl. I have Procar Rally Seats in white vinyl going in and would like something to accent them. Also I am putting in the LOKAR floor mounted emergency hand brake so I would make the e-brake relief on the 5th gen console functional.
Who has thoughts and opinions on this?

Not sure the trans shift location would fit or look the same. At least the 5th gen has Cup holders and you may also want to look at the console on the 2004-06 GTO for ideas too.

The shifter on my 67 is on the steering column, not on the tunnel so the shifter is not a problem. I just got a console from a forum member so the project is on.

I can tell u from experience getting custom consoles made are expensive. I had one made for my 67 and paid $1600. I even had quotes in the $3k range. If u found one from another car that u like, u probably saved a ton of money.

Tell me about, there is nothing about these cars, the new or old ones, that are cheap. My '67 is in the body shop right now getting a nice Black BC/CC and I will get it back next month. I picked up a console from a forum member and I have Scat Rally Seats to go into it when I get it back. I just have to figure out what I am going to do in the area where the shifter and gauges go. I may put in a set of gauges but I will wait to see what I am working with when I get the car back.
I like your '67. How is the visibility with the 4" cowl? Any must do mods or pieces that you recommend on the '67's? Is your 5th Gen IBM. If so good choice, my '12 is IBM.

Thanks, yes my 12 is IBM. NO visual issues so far with the 4" cowl. I will take a pic of my interior and post it. Changed all my gauges last year and went digital. Figured my car was too modded for stock type gauges even though 2 years earlier i had put new stock gauges.

Car is getting jambed and interior painted today and then it will hopefully go for paint in the next few weeks. So the interior will be the next project.

I'm going to guess that you fabricated that dash panel with the double din opening! That looks great!

Yes, I didn't want the standard box looking console configuration. The console is wrapped with same material they use for dash pad so it looks as it could have come that way minus the digital components.
