I was at a car cruze night last weekend and sitting next to an 07 Carol Shelby Mustang. I was a beautiful looking machine. In any case, he had installed a Borla cat back system and mentioned that it needed to be "burned in", meaning that the sound changed with time. Maybe that will happen with you?

Its not the exhaust...it's when the car goes from 8 to 4 celynders. I just had a magnaflow catback exhaust installed and mine does the same thing, it did it before with the stock...just not as noticeable.

he has an ls3 so theres no AFM...

are you looking for a deeper/more pronounced tone, or for less drone?

I ordered the Borla Touring axle back as soon as I got my car. I knew it was the sound I wanted. Quiet when I need it to be, but deep sounding when I get on it (4500-6000 rpm).

Edit:

Come to think of it... I do get a drone in top gear, sub 1800 rpm. It's not terrible, but is such a low frequency that its noticeable. Nothing the Boston Acoustics can't handle.

I have the same setup. Give it some time. It will change and you will get used to the drone or it may lessen some overtime. At 1st I thought I made a mistake too. Had the car on the highway, and it was awful.

Now no problem.

Me too. Thought I had made a big mistake. I then added the Borla cat back with x pipe, and although it still drones, the tone is deeper. Once you get to 2200 rpm the drone goes away but by then you are doing 90! Need to add 4:10 gears.

Give it some time. If you don't like it or it doesn't change after a 1000 miles someone here will take it off your hands and you can try something else. Save the $ for now or you'll go nuts trying this and that.

I had the same problem when I was running without Cats, then I installed hi flow cats from ARH and the noisy sound at 2500 is gone

I just installed Fat Mat insulation in the trunk and it toned down the drone at 80 from my Borla S type cat back.

I have the SLP loudmouth II's, after install I felt the same way, they drone, there not as deep as I though they would be. After 500 miles on them the sound is much deeper, the drone is still there, but like someone else said the radio fixes that. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say most axel backs are going to have some drone, I spoke with SLP directly about adding the x-pipe to my system, there response was the drone would get worse due to better flow.
