Thanks Jay, you never disapoint.
You got to figure GM knows people can build their own. Most of the upgrades they are putting on the ZL1 can be easily picked up and put on any Camaro. I think they will stay within reason. All I want is that hood!!! Loaded SS $40,000 Super Charger $7000 Wheels and brakes $4000 Exhaust $1000 Suspension $2000 Ride control $2000 Ext mods $1000 Int mods $1000 Just because they can $2000 New ZL1 $60,000 My eduemecated guess.

I didn't read through all of this thread......
Are we getting hung up on this 75k statement? Please tell me "no"....:( Quote:
Cadillac CTS sport Coupe (3.6L, RWD): $39590 Chevy Camaro Coupe 2LT:.................$29250 Difference: $10,340...this is how much you're paying for the "Cadillac version" of an otherwise very similar vehicle... Now... Caddy CTS-V Coupe: $64090 $64090 - $10,340 = $53,750 This poster's estimated MSRP of new ZL1: $54,000 Figure on a few things to back that up, The automatic transmission (a good 1200 dollar option, is no-cost on a CTS-V, so that charge is buried in there somewhere...The GT500 Mustang with the SVT performance package is right around $54,000 dollars, and if history repeats itself...the Camaro team likes to offer more standard features than Ford at a comparable price as their optioned-up vehicles. When a manufacturer builds things...they don't build ala carte like you or I would from the aftermarket...for everything they upgrade...the cost of the inferior, removed equipment is subtracted, so you only ever have a net cost increase (even when considering profit...)...for example...the Eagle F1 tires are not $1700 extra compared to an SS (using retail prices)...they'd be $800 more because you need to subtract the now-removed $900 Pirellis... Also...at 60,000 starting price (that's what I'm assuming we're all talking about here)...you're well over a Grand Sport Corvette with options...within spitting distance of the MUCH more luxurious CTS-V...and awful close to countless other perceived "very fast cars" out there...and I don't know the last time a manufacturer-sanctioned Nurburgring lap time became a value-added selling point, because as much as I love the ZL1...that's all it's really got over the CTS-V... In short...I simply don't believe it'll start at 60k. Is the performance package worth it? YES! It'd be worth it at $100,000...but it's not a BMW, or an Audi, or a Porsche, or a whatever...They've put way too much development work into this car (imvho) to waste their time and trying to sell it at a higher-than-necessary price. But maybe I'm wrong...maybe Chevy doesn't stand for value anymore...perhaps we're all going to be told "you can't have it" when we see the MSRP... |

Time to cancel the 53 members from the ordering list. Can't have it... LOL... too expensive... and then...you did WHAT with my deposit??? Its about time we can laugh at these outrageous price speculations... I am just going to believe the opposite of the price speculation and be done with it. If this car is 75k ill be the first to eat crow and buy a Grand Sport... and I don't even care for buying my first vette... whhheeehhhhhh...

If it is priced that high, the Nostalgia Factor goes out with the bathwater.....leaving what we dreamers feel the target dream audience ought to be (US), holding the bag. Pricing can be based on potential prices other cars in the same performance league cost, or it can be based on actual cost with target saturation desire's in mind. Base it on "potential" and many loyalists may just not be feeling the heartbeat quite so much. Oh, the Nostalgia of it All!! |

Loved the Leno ZL1 clip. Good to see an effective ZL1 burnout (launch control off). I'm with Fishersmoke's estimate of $60K base price per copy. I still like my 1SS at half the price. For me the SS hits the sweetspot of performance and value. ZL1 is an amazing big brother to the SS for sure. So when will we see the Z28 and what will be the price point? Anyone want to take a guess at the Z28 base price?

Nice job of making an "educated guess" at the MSRP dragoneye. Ur guess reflects intelligence...unlike most of the speculators out there just throwing out numbers. I for one am 100% confident and willing to bet everything I own that the ZL1 will have a base price under $60k for the simple fact of competition. The ZL1 is going after th the GT500's throat. Makes no sense to price yourself far from your direct competition. That is the key point people need to remember. The 2nd key point is the simple fact of performance and the cts-v offers very similar performance with much more luxury and at $64k chevy will want to stay away from that market line and not cannibalize itself (so to speak) at the end it's still GM. Look at the price gap between the mustang gt and gt500 or eveb better the boss 302 and the gt500 (both are track beasts) and you can see they are priced within $10k. So if chevy does make a z28 aimed at the boss 302 they need to be able to price it in the $45k base range to be competitive...everything should fall in line as ford and chevy battle put their muscle car supremacy to the end

With Jay Leno doing the talking - he can really sell this car! Plus, love him driving it too at the end of the video. Nice. I have to see what it looks like and sounds like in person and then decide if I want one. I still do not like the stacked hood vents! Hopefully, the scoop hood will be an optional alternative.
