Factory ZL1 battery life span

Anyone have experience with the factory battery needing replacement? Searched the forums but didn't see solid answers. If anyone knows what the expected lifespan of the stock battery is, and if any have had it fail sooner than that anticipated timeframe please post your experience. Thank you

My battery just went bad, almost 4 years and 58,000 miles in the desert.

If it is a daily driver, 7 or more years.

4 to 5 years if it is not a daily driver.

The number of cranks, and if it sees winter, and if you ever refresh it are all determining factors.

I don't know how Mississippi weather is on batteries, but the heat/humidity here in FL is a battery killer. I'll be happy to get 3 years out of mine.

There have been several no start, dead battery threads. My 2014 1LE was about 1.5 years old, and out of the blue it was just completely dead one day. I normally keep my car on a battery tender, as I dont drive mine everyday. For a couple of days I didnt, and thats when it went dead. Took it to the dealer, and they had it for several days. They tested the battery and told me it was fine. They did however replace the software in the Body Control Module.
The car after that, stayed on 15 volts (the battery voltage meter) all the time. I had the dealer replace the battery. I think these cars have a fair amount of parasitic current draw with all of the electronics in them.

I proactively changed the batter in my 2013 with 28k miles when it was 3 1/2 years old.
I had been polishing the car for 5 hours while listening to the radio set to a low volume. I went to start the car about 1/2 hour later and it wouldn't turn over. Put it on the tender for an hour and it started right up. I decided then just to go ahead and change the battery.

Long shot but could the battery be covered by warranty? or is it considered a wear item? Like clutch and etc

My 2014 doesn't get driven much. Maybe 1 or 2 times a month since I bought it, and Just recently the battery dies and loses charge instantly. Car only has 4700 miles on it

Maybe under the 36,000 but I would say only if the battery was defective.

They're normally pro-rated, even while under warranty.

Bickle beast that they are, it really depends on the conditions the battery is kept in (excessive heat or cold), and how the battery is maintained (driven sufficient distance daily, or on a Tender). I'd say a good average is 3-5 years. Test it periodically, and as long as it's maintaining a solid charge after sitting overnight (12.5-12.8 volts), it should be fine. They can go bad quickly though....

I have a 2014 Camaro SS with 18,000 miles. The hand held battery tester at Chevy dealership said it was bad. GM will replace it under warranty. But, they have to hook it up to this large tester. It runs about 80 or 90 minutes. It charges the battery, puts a load on the battery, etc and that came back in specs. So, GM wouldn't warranty the battery. I live in Florida and everyone says you get about 2 to 3 years max out of a battery in Florida. I'm going to have them test it one more time just before my warranty expires.
