MA Excise tax.....just have to vent..

Sorry but I have to vent about this one.....Registered my car in 6/2009. Excise for 2009 was $221. So I was assuming a little more than double for 2010. Just got my 2010.......$680. WTF....they doubled the value for 2010. Of course the assessor's office has some lame excuse about they only value at 50% for pre manufacturer year and now that it is 2010 and it is 90% of the actual value......Good old taxachusetts!

As soon as I saw the $680.00 I knew that you were from Taxachusetts. I got my $680.00 bill for my 2010 SS last week. My 2007 Harley was $115.00 and my 2002 Buick Century was $50.00. We have an election coming up in November, remember these taxes when you vote. Out governor has even proposed a candy and soda pop tax. He wants to tax the children's lolly pops. What a guy!

No, just the progressive politicians. I would be willing to let you throw your car into the harbor though.

You could always move to a free state. Total tax on my truck and my wife's car was less than $200 last year...

So he's stealing the proverbial candy from babies?

You gotta admit, there's a little bit of humor there, if anything just to keep you sane...

welcome to the Communist-wealth of Taxachusetts!

what did we expect when we elected the new governor who pledged to immediately reverse all of the savings that the previous guy put in place?

(actually I didn't vote for him, I threw away my vote like I do at every election . . . except this last one!)

Haven't got mine in the mail yet I guess.
There goes a good chunk of my tax return, ugh.

I know a good spot... right next to the computer museum. I think tea went in there the last time we had this problem.
