You are quite welcome again, John. If it's anything like mine, when you get into it, it's stupid loud! And CEL yet? And that trunk thing was crazy. Must have just had to relearn.

As for the neighbours...it's like a train passing in the night. One day they won't even notice you're starting her up. LOL

Well folks, seems a motor might be coming my way. Ran into a fellow who has a 327 bored to 30 over with flat top pistons and Edelbrock aluminum heads (202-160???) I assume these numbers are for the chamber & intake runner but the Chamber seems extremely high????.

Apparently the motor runs and will obviously see this before any deal is to be made. My problem is that I have no idea what a 327 SB should go for in "decent" condition????

Any ideas?

OK....back working on the car this weekend. The motor I was looking at fell through...:(

I have opened up the Rochester again to gain access to the idle mix screws (they were buried behind plugs). I set my timing to 4 degrees as per the tag, and then started setting my idle mix....it's pulling 18 inches of vacuum (not exactly sure on the RPM as the tach doesn't work) seems to run better but I still think it could be better.

Does anyone know what the vacuum should be at on these small blocks?

...........I have a favour to ask of any gearheads in the Calgary area, does anyone have an engine crane & stand they would be willing to let out for a bit this summer?

Update on my project Camaro, engine and transmission are in. final plumbing is almost done, initial priming complete....just need to turn the engine over by hand and finish priming. Still need to have some A/C lines made up as well as find a keyed power source under the hood for the fan, but getting close!!

Thanks to Draggon22 for helping get the power plant and tranny in the car.....bit of a fight!!

Should be ready to start it up this weekend if all goes well!!

So, you ended up putting in a crate motor? What are the details?

It's the GM Performance 350 HO turn key crate. 9.1 Compression with a mild cam @ .435 intake / .460 exhaust lift & 212° intake / 222° exhaust duration. Aluminum pistons, flat tappet rockers. Rated HP at the crank is 330, which is fine as this car I just want to be street-able and cruise. I had the tranny rebuilt with a 2400 stall and stage 2 shift kit......nothing crazy at all.

Looking for a posi and gears, but that can wait.

Still should be a lot of fun to drive!
