Just an observation

While changing the oil in my Z, I noticed the oil pan said "GM made in USA" however seeing as how the engine was made in Mexico and the car was made in Canada, how exactly was this made in the USA?

On a side note, I'd recommend switching to amsoil ss as soon as your first oil change, I instantly felt easier idling and easier revving.

Maybe the engine is just assembled in Mexico and the parts are USA ...

Still extremely false labeling in my opinion intended to trick the less knowledgable consumer.

It's probably just referring to the oil pan itself.

I think the engine was assembled in Mexico but the parts may have come from all over the world.

I thought the engines came from the US, and it was just the manual transmission that came from Mexico. Does the LSA come from a different plant than the LS3? Or have there been changes in sourcing since the last time I actually looked at one of these cars on a lot two years ago?

The LSA is assembled in Silao, Mexico. You're probably thinking of the LS9 which is built in Wixom, MI.

Still comes across as the entire thing being made in the USA, and I don't think that is by accident.

Yeah, they're obviously trying to trick all of the service technicians that do oil changes into thinking that the entire is engine is made in the USA. Seriously, probably 90+% of the people that bought a ZL1 or CTS-V will never change their own oil.

I'm sure it's because whichever supplier makes the oil pan is proud of the fact they made the part here in the US. No big deal and bravo to them for putting it on there.
