It will have the far end sectioned off as a separate room for paint/ woodwork/ etc so I don't have to worry about the cars.

What are some things I should plan ahead for?

4.25" floor @3000# rating for a lift.
I have a 30 gallon compressor- that should do
I don't ever foresee the need for seating/ entertaining (downstairs at least)

After its built and you have everything you need in the man cave. So you think small refrigerator, lap top,at least 60 flat screen, counter with stools. just a small start.

This would be for a four post lift only.

If you know where you will place the lift - it wouldn't add much cost to poor some 18x18" 8-10" deep footers where the posts will sit - just for peace of mind.

Both solid ideas

Looking at some of these, I’m liking the thought of the lift in the back.

A wood burning stove, a few 220v 50a circuits, running hot an cold water, and a drain in the floor.

Badger hole

Just getting started really, But its good enough to work out of it for now. I added a man cave/office for a little more comfort.

Just condensed from two houses to one. Have plans in the works for a Morton building 40X48, with at least a 12’ ceiling for a lift. I’ll keep everyone updated on progress. Next stop, permits!

New member here but shops are my thing so after viewing this thread I thought I'd give it a bump back to the top and show mine off.

This is our second shop in the 34+ years that the wife and I have been married. Our first shop was a small 1100 sq/ft shop that we worked out of and campaigned our small race operation out of which consisted of running a speed and performance shop for 20 years. We moved six years ago and I was able to build my dream shop. A 50x60x16 shop and RV storage for our 40' coach.

Here are some pictures of it in relation to the house as well as a few various projects that we've built over the past 5-1/2 years that the shop has been built.

Thanks for looking.

Mike
