my opinion for just a radar detector is V1, if you are going to go full Laser Defuser and Detector my vote goes to K40 hands down. I have the K40 Laser Defuser and Radar Detector with remote control and LOVE IT!

I'm thinking about getting the k40. Is there any downside to it? And has it let you down yet?

2 Escorts 9500ix (favorite) hardly any falses and I like the 'learning feature' and the MPH readout. Have a redline also-super sensitive(ie.noisy)but necessary for those 'special times'. The ix also does redlight cam, speed traps etc. I subscribe to the updates (weekly). I will not jinx myself-but they work for me

Might help you decide, was going to say Bel but it's made in Canada. Might not be interested in that sort of thing.
http://www.radartest.com or http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=1064 Actually, rates them out of 100 Escort #1, Bel #2, ..... Valentine second to last place, popularity won't save you from a ticket. Do your research. |

I use 8500 x50. It's saved me numerous times. Only problem is when you get to close to stores or gas stations it will go off, but it is usually crowded a long those places where speeding isn't realistic.
Also for anyone else with the 8500 do you guys use C (City) or H (Highway) or A (Auto) mode? I've only kept it on auto and it doesn't alert me from "very" far away. |

I use the Passport 9500 CI. The custom install hides the GPS unit and the radar receiver behind the grill. I have the display is mounted above the rear view mirror (in the blacked out area) and the controller is down by the base of the shifter.
The two front laser jammers are located in between the lower grill slots and the single rear jammer is mounted below the license plate.

I use the Escort 9500IX with the visor mount and hardwired to the wiring harness at the mirror. A great radar detector and very quite after it has gone through its learning process. In addition, you cannot see the radar detector from the outside of the car with the visor mount unless you look real hard.

Passport 9500ci.
Fully integrated with GPS locating. Screen is just under my information display, buttons are by the cup holders, front sensors are in bottom grill, rear sensor on license plate, gps unit and brain is in the dash. Works VERY well.
