No silver bullet LS family motor will emerge. The next gen DI 8 cylinder motor will be the game changer in our camp. Whether it be naturally aspirated, turbo charged, or super charged that is for the engineer's to decide upon. The end result of the power output will be the deciding factor which configuration is best suited to sit in the engine bay of the Camaro Z/28. Sanctioned race rules or public demand may not be part of the equation, perhaps another niche production offering may emege that is groundbreaking and one to behold.
That's true the LS9 falls short but I said currently it is the top of the line. The LT series may produce a 670+ HP motor but we don't know if it will. In articles I have read, the rumor is the supercharged LT engine will produce more power than the LSA which is far short of 662 HP out of the 5.8 Ford motor. We may never see a 600+ HP motor from Chevy/GM again.

...if Ford made a 662 HP motor that sits in a Mustang, as sure as God made green apples we will top it and it will sit in a Camaro, and its coming....Chevy is not going to lay down or take a back seat to no one.

If GM developes an engine with that kind of performance it would go in the Vette. The Camaro is not their priority.

I doubt Chevy will say no mas but Camaro will be second to the Vette. Mustang doesn't have that problem. The 70 Chevelle is my favorite car but the Camaro has always been my second favorite car. I'd love to see it be the priority and have the best engine GM can develop but that hasn't been the case for a long time.

I guess the corvette isn't aiming at super cars, and camaro isn't aiming at those. so what lines will be crossed if the camaro has just as much or slightly more power then the vette? on top of the fact the camaro weights more and handles worse, has worse aerodynamics. There is no way the top of the line camaro would ever out perform the top of the line vette.

I get that the Camaro weighs more than the Corvette but when has a regular production Camaro put out more HP than the top of the line Corvette? The Vette, even when using the same engines, is always rated with more HP than the Camaro.

....dude, get into the twenty first century and buy a late model Camaro and get on board with reality....constant negative criticism goes over like a lead baloon here. Perhaps the sullen tone is best suited for the Mustang boards compadre'...just sayin...

My belief is that GM has something special planned for the Z, and further stretching, it will have an engine that suprises us all and will not be a hand-me-down from the corvette.

Future GM engines should get more clear once they unveil the Gen V small block tomorrow morning. Although performance applications may not be unveiled until the C7 is at NAIAS on 1/13/13.

Well the LT1 6.2 is rated at 450 HP. Is that good enough for a Z/28?
