Car Washing
I know this is a complex question but in the business that I am, i haven't washed my own car in probably 25 years. I have a 2014 yellow convertible with rally stripes from the factory. What are the hot items and the correct to go about washing my new toy. I know it's a loaded, just lookin for a little guidance such as which car wash is good, are we still waxing these babies(yes, been out a long time) and how do I go about being careful with the rally stripes. Any guidance would be appreciated, Thank you.

There are several good car care product lines out there these days, from Adam's to Zaino; I personally use Meguiar's Ultimate series products. You might want to check out the car care section of the forum for more information on products and detailing advice.

It don’t come easy.

If you have to use a car wash, I’d recommend a brushless. Less chance of swirls and scratches to the clear coat.

Check the Adams polishes site. Not only do they sell great products, they also have very informative videos on how to use them. There are how to videos ranging from washing, polishing, interior, and wheels.

I agree. That’s all I use. But everyone has their own manufacturers products that they stick with. Adams has the best drying towels ever made in my opinion. Detail spray and the ultra plush drying towel is a must have.

Mine’s a daily driver so I probably don’t go to the same lengths others do here caring for the baby.
I usually use a soft brush I bought that hooks to the hose; wet the car down first and then use the brush on it working top to bottom with lots of water flow. Then use the leak blower on it to get it dry, squeegee the windows and dry with a chamois, then chamois down the rest of the car. Spray some tire black on the wheels if needed and it’s done. In the winter when it’s too cold, I will sometimes do a two bucket wash in the garage. Clean bucket with sponge, rinse in second bucket and dry with the chamois. I don’t take it through any automatic car washes. |
