I read over the manual last night. Had some nice stuff in it. I like the shift lights in the HUD. I also liked some of the new features of the A6 trans, this thing is gonna be sweet.

Has anyone read about the use of launch control for the manual? My ZR-1 is really simple and I've heard that the ZL-1 is somewhat different....

"Launch Control is only available
when the following criteria are met:

. Competitive Driving Mode is
selected or any of the PTM
modes are selected.
. The vehicle is not moving.
. The steering wheel is pointing
straight.
. The clutch is pressed and the
vehicle is in first gear.
. The accelerator pedal is rapidly
applied to wide open throttle.

The Launch Control feature will
initially limit engine speed as the
driver rapidly applies the accelerator
pedal to wide open throttle.
A smooth, quick release of the
clutch, while maintaining the fully
pressed accelerator pedal, will
manage wheel slip."

Thanks...I looked for that and missed it, my bad.....the ZR-1 holds the RPM @ 4000 and if you "Power Shift" the engine does not rev beyond that which prevents running into the rev limiter or as in the old days, you wind up with misc parts bouncing off of the pavement....sounds like the ZL-1 is either the same or very similar....can't wait to try it out.....
Thanks, Scott...

Agreed, really like "format 4" on the HUD . Wonder if it will be possible to do some sort of software upgrade on the standard HUD to include 'format 4'?

Great link. In the back, it listed a web site for purschasing service manuals. I went on the site, and they aren't available until June, but they can notify you when they're ready if you wish. The cost is $200.00. For me, it will be a worth while investment, because this is the last toy I'm going to buy.

You have to love an owner's manual that plainly references "track events," "drag strip use," and even gives you instructions for bedding brake pads.

I can't wait to see what 580HP feels like on the back straight at VIR!

On page 9-37, I wonder under what condition is the first to fourth gear shifting required? I wonder if I could even remember to do that...
