Voiding The Warranty?

if you tune your car and your engine, trans, or rear gear need replacing, you will be paying for it yourself. if gm denies your warranty, you have to take them to court. gm doesnt have to prove anything to deny your warranty. they have denied reasonable claims before and stalled and carried it out for months.
any vendor that will give me a written warranty for my major powertrain parts can sell me a cam, tune and headers.

Surprise, surprise; I've written about that as well. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act applies even in the case of a tune. They can not just out right void your warranty simply because it is there. But if you have a powertrain problem they will not cover it and to be honest they shouldn't. A bad tune can destroy an engine in a snap and there are a lot of people out there tuning cars that have no business doing it. The manufacturer can't be expected to take responsibility for that. At a certain point you have to be prepared to pay to play.

GM does not always ask for snapshots of the ECM for every repair done. Especially if it is a known defect that may already have a service bulletin out on it. Rest assured that if GM asks about it, and it has been tuned, and it could even remotely add to the failure, you will most likely be denied coverage by GM no matter what the dealer says. You just have to understand that this is always a possibility with a tune.

Modifications or tunes do not automatically void the powertrain warranty, but in many cases they will. If there is an issue or damage, and it is found to be the result of a modification or tune, then your powertrain warranty will be found void. These products may have detrimental effects on the performance and life of the engine, exhaust, emission system, transmission, and drivetrain. I hope this helps.

Dealers have zero control over your warranty, GM has the final say. You can get all the documentation in the world from a dealer saying that you will be good to go however if anything happens and GM says your warranty is toast the dealer will not be able to help you.

PS, an alarm is iffy. If done correctly then it shouldn't however if done incorrectly and the wrong wire is tapped into then yes.

I'm just curious, if you do a tune, and no cel's ever show up then wouldn't that mean that the engine was operating properly, if there ever was a question about a tune harming the engine.

I have 650 HP, engine forged, new axles, rear, amongst many other mods. Never had a CEL thrown. Car runs like a bat out of hell with zero issues.

Doesn't mean nothing though in regards to warranty work. I wouldn't even think about asking GM to do such a thing; that's what my Lingenfelter 3 yr/ 36,000 mile warranty is for (That I've never had to use, and I drive quite agressively).
