Ignition coil foiled

TLDR

Can I use a different style coil pack for my LS3 2015 camaro ss? Square to round or round to square?

This thread exists, but its not very helpful: https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=527694

Long story
So I went to go buy a new coil pack for my 2015 camaro ss LS3. I decided to get a different style of coil pack... affectionately known as the square coil (d510c).

However to my chagrin, the coil pack does not fit the connector on the wiring harness. I dunno how, but both of the AC Delco part numbers (D510C and D514a round coil) are meant for the LS3 camaro.

Does anybody else have any info on this? I'm stumped as to why a particular style coil pack is fixed for a particular wiring loom connector, and even more so with the 2 different types of coil pack for the LS3/L99/(LSA?) motor.

Thanks!

D510C

D514A

Hmm, I thought all of the LS3/L99 Camaros had the D510C.
And the answer to your question is...because GM. Really though, no idea why they make some of the engineering decisions they make, especially in regard to electrical connectors and cross compatibility. You would think it would be cheaper to just stay with a proven connection type. I can only assume these were different revisions based mainly around design improvements - I always thought the D514A style was an older design, but I am certainly not sure about that.

If they don't make adapters for this maybe you could just swap the pigtails? But may I ask why you want to do this? I can understand if its an aesthetic thing, but if its power related, I have seen the D510C's used on 1000rwhp+ builds without issue.

I have the 510 type on mine. And yes they are easily good to 1k hp.
