Unhappy ZL1 Hopes dead

Well my buddy and I both found out that our dealer friend won't be getting any ZL1's. My buddy was extremely pissed ,but I told him all along that I sort of expected that because our friend has a small dealership. My dealer friend was upset that he couldn't come through ,but I've known him a long time ,and a car will never mess up our friendship. I told him that it just wasn't meant to be. I had a very scary health scare a while back and these kinds of disappointments are really pretty mild compared to what can happen to someone. I told him that I may or may not wait for 2013. I sold my SS and don't like to be without a hotrod for very long. I may just get a CTS-V coupe instead.

Congrats to everyone that is sign up to get one of these awesome cars.

I'm sorry to hear that. You make a good point though. Sometimes it takes something more serious to appreciate the smaller things in life.

I'm ordering through my brother who also has a smaller dealership. I asked him today if he got his allocation allotment yet and he said not that he's seen. But I'm afraid that I'll be in the same boat my friend.

But I'm not gonna give up and either should you. Everyone says that all the allocations are spoken for but we have to remember that not everyone even knows about this car yet. They haven't been advertising it on tv so unless they are camaro fans like ourselves, most don't even know the car exists. People telling stories about their dealer not even knowing about the car speaks volumes. IMHO.

Thanks guys ,and I agree I'm sure we're not the only ones on the outside looking in. It's not the end of the world. I may just get something different if I have to wait too long. You never know. The GT500 in 2010 was next to impossible to get also at the beginning of that year ,but by the end of the year I was able to get one at a great price. I'm not saying this will happen hear ,but you never know. I just wish I would have hung on to my SS until I was sure that I would have been on the list.

I only deal with one Chevy dealer because he's a very good friend. I've been buying cars from him for over twenty years. I just couldn't go anywhere else. I've had him get me cars from other dealers that I've seen ,but I highly doubt that anyone will dealer trade a ZL1 unless they get one in return. LOL

What about finding a dealer that with an allocation, buying from them but doing a courtesy delivery to your friend's dealership? I believe your buddy would get the fee for that service.

Understood..
Everyone has theyre own scenario.. but if you have been buying cars from him surely 1 car he would understand?
Ok if going to another dealership is not an option...
wait.. maybe an order might not get taken...
IE, customer orders a ZL1, decides they want a ZR1, or they wanna wait for a 2013 ZL1?
That would be waiting... no harm there..
do what you feel is right. Good Look!

Buy it elsewhere. If he cannot deliver the auto you want. I'm sure as your friend he would want you to do that. Surprised he didn't already tell you to.
I would.

He's still going to try all the angles ,but I've been down this road before so I'm not getting my hopes up. My other friend that was second on his list isn't as loyal ,and he's trying to get one else where. But he has had no luck so far.
