MRC for a non daily driver/ Garage queen
I am thinking about buying a 2017 SS convertible one has the MRC the other does NOT.
Now for my situation is it going to be worth the extra $$? My Camaro will NOT be a daily driver, I will drive it 1-2 times a month, it will be for going to shows, car cruises, and or taking it out for a spin. The longest drive for me will be 20-45 min max. Other than that it will have NO track time, no auto cross/road coarse time. Pretty much it will be a garage queen who get's to come out 1-2 times a month. Is it worth the expense sure it sounds like it's nice I just do not believe I will have the ability really enjoy it. Thanks in advance. Sean

Daily or not, most will tell you that it's worth getting the MRC. I am also one of those that would recommend it

it's like what? 2% or so of the overall price?
Buy it, it's well worth the cheap monies for such convenience Cheap enough that someone who can afford such a car do be a 1-2 time a month "garage queen" shouldn't even be worrying about the extra cost.

Thanks for the info I found 2 cars to choose from that have MRC at 2 different dealerships. I hope to close a deal by Tuesday for the one that Becky has.

Definitely MRC all the way, even for a few times being driven. Mine is not a true DD, bever sees rain and not driven a ton of miles, only have 4900 miles in 16 months of ownership, but I love my MRC!

I barely use my MRC but would not hesitate to get it again. I have 18k miles and mostly leave it in comfort mode. The NPP is my favorite.

I got MRC and am very happy with it. My suggestion would be to try to drive one car with and one car without back to back (try to get the same trim levels if possible to get the best ride comparison). MRC is for suspension damping performance only, you still get the different steering calibrations and the NPP modes without the MRC option.
Don't get me wrong, MRC is nice and I always recommend it, but to play devil's advocate you'll save more down the road if you like the non-MRC cars just as much for how you plan to drive. MRC dampers cost quite a bit more to replace once they go kaput.

MRC is worth it. You use it every single mile. It keeps the car smooth. It keeps the car flat. In every driving condition it improves every aspect of the car.

I know i'm the outsider here but leading up to buying my car I drove a have dozen Camaro's both with and without MRC including having a 1SS A8 car as a rental for 8 days in CA. For the life of me I couldn't tell any difference in the way the MRC car rode or drove compared to standard car in anything but track mode.
In track mode the MRC was stiff and you could feel the difference. Every other setting felt almost exactly like the non-MRC car. It certainly wasn't any softer than my car is today. For me it wasn't worth the expense to buy something I wasn't going to see the benefit from. Instead I put that extra cash toward something I wanted and bought the 50th package with NPP and a moonroof. in the end there isn't anyone here that can make the decision for you. Go drive both cars and see which one you prefer. |
