Added Z/28 GM OEM 4 Ch. AMP & Subwoofer to Stereo - 400 watts now

Hi Z/28 fans,

I just added the GM OEM 4 channel kicker amp 200 watts, 50 watts per channel and the powered GM OEM 200 watt subwoofer for the Z/28 Camaro. I bought them both separate from one of the online GM wholesale websites from back east.
You save hundreds that way. The pieces are nice and worth the money. the wiring harnesses are fantastic, top notch.... I will say it again, the wiring harnesses are just wonderful !

The sound is a huge upgrade. The 4 channel amp is more than twice as loud as the stock head unit and the subwoofer can make the rear view mirror vibrate. The speakers sound way better with this better power going to them. They have some nice punch to them now and the highs are smoother... CDs really sound good. I really think it is a worthwhile upgrade. Especially, since there is no splicing, cutting, etc..., everything fits perfect.

The 4 channel amp mounts to a predefined location on the left of the steering wheel in a vertical orientation. Threaded holes already exist for all mounting, and the kit comes with a bolt and screw for installation.

Installation is pretty straightforward. Inside the z/28, I did it all by just removing these items, drivers kick panel, drivers door sill, popped up rear cushion without removing, fuse box cover, console cover, climate control unit, radio head unit. Nothing more required.

you basically remove those items above, then, route the hot wires and subwoofer input wires through the drivers left corner in the trunk, see attached pic, I fished the wires through that spot, then grabbed them from under the rear seat and tucked them under the rear molding, then, the door sill, and drivers kick panel. Then, you mount the 4 channel amp under on the left of the steering wheel column under the dash. Remove the stereo head unit from the dash, plug in the new wire harness, then fish it left on the front of the dash, then plug the harness into the 4 channel amp. No wire ties required. Everything is custom length. I love how the installation is and the sound is really a huge upgrade. I wish I did it sooner.

New Pictures added to show the vertical mounting of the amp to the left of the steering column. It is the shiny silver box with the fins on it. Note: The bolt for the rear mounting is already there and sticks out, you just use the supplied nut. The bolt for securing the front of the amp is already in the Z/28, so, you unscrew it, add the amp, then, screw it back in. The supplied bolt in the kit is NOT needed on our cars. Note2: when mocking up the amp mounting, you might have to bend the bracket slightly with your hand to get everything to line up perfectly...

Thanks ! I am happy... I did not want to modify my Z/28 and this worked out perfect.

Go to the Kicker website --- www.kicker.com
Go to products, then "vehicle specific solutions". Fill in Chev. Camaro 2015 and everything pops up. There are different part numbers for "my Link" which our Z/28 do not have. We need the "non-My Link" version. You can see the correct GM part numbers in my first picture...

Note: I found it cheaper to buy them as 2 separate kits, than one complete kit for some reason...

Note: I am also using the Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX. It auto hooks to my iphone in my pocket to the head unit when I start the car and I use the round mouse in the picture to stop, start, change songs. I am attaching an installation picture... super easy to tuck the wire under the counsel then, plug it into the aux in jack. It also sounds better than hooking up to the earphone jack, because AptX is sending out a more appropriate signal for a car stereo, ie. rather than earphones.

No, I bought them separately. Probably a few hundred more than standard aftermarket stuff, but, the custom wiring harnesses and pre-tuned sound system are well worth it. Everything sounds really good now with bass, treble, and mid at zero..

i did just the sub, no amp and it is much better. I am thinking about adding that amp now. I also have the full mylink system waiting to go in.

Yes, do the 4 channel amp.. I did the sub first also, and hooked it up to my rear left drivers side speaker. It worked well, but, I still had the bass set up to 4+. When I put the new 4 channel amp in, next to the steering wheel column, I ran the subwoofer input wires to the new 4 channel amp. This step really equalized the sound, so, that everything is set to flat now, and I have plenty of bass. Also, the stock speakers have some 3D punch now, instead of that 2D flat sound. You will like the stock speakers much better with the 4 Channel amp. My girlfriend also noticed that the 4 channel amp really integrated the whole system sound better with the new subwoofer...

I just added pics of the 4 channel amp. mounted underneath the dash to my original post above. You can see that it is a really custom OEM fit. Rock solid. No way to get another amp in there..., lol.. The wiring harness attaches to the front and the harness is routed along the front of the dash..

I’m getting closer to pulling the trigger on this.
These are the lowest prices I’ve been able to find for the amp and sub.

I just purchased the complete kit 19119226 gm part# 300.00
Kit has both the powered subwoofer and 220 watt amp
It's for the mylink but you can order just the amp harness from kicker which is the only
difference. Or you can upgrade to the mylink.
