Here are my thoughts on wheel finishes:
Chrome stands out, people are likely thinking "Wow, look at those wheels."
Black tends to disappear and make the body color more noticable, so people are thinking "Wow, look at that color."
Black chrome, gunmetal, bronze etc are somewhere in between, giving a balanced impression, which is my preference.
