P0305 Bad Gas or Dirty MAF

After driving about 10 miles after getting 3/4 tank of Shell 93 octane from a busy station I never got gas from before I get flashing CEL and Service Stabilitrac msg with car running like shit. I’m thinking bad gas and fearing the worst as the pump kept cutting out on the attendant and knowing we CANNOT siphon gas from our tanks.

I’ve owned the car 11 yrs / 49k miles and only had one other CEL about 3 yrs ago and that was after gassing up at another Shell station I never used before, but that time it was only a CEL. In the interim yrs I always got gas from same Exxon station.

Knowing I can’t siphon the tank I put in a can of isoHEET thinking if it’s bad gas that would help. Nope, lights still on car running like crap in 1st. So I figured WTH I’ll clean the MAF before taking to garage to change plug, injector, etc. After a few drive cycles at no more than 2k rpm all lights go off and car is running fine …really

BTW my SCTX4 wouldn’t clear the code

You can Siphon Gas my friend. I have already done it twice, once to remove old gas, and once to install a ZL1 FP.

Hey thanks much for that! Really good to know and pretty straight forward too. Besides the anti-siphon valve at the top of the fill tube I had the understanding there was also a screen right before the tank that prevented any type of tubing to reach the tank. Apparently not based on TLSTWIN’s technique.

Just be careful if you use the remove the hose method. The hose is discontinued or going to be soon from GM so if you tear a hole in it or something, it won't be a good day.

Ah, just checked. You can still buy one. P/n 92225312 but now it's list price is $172.04. Yeah, you read that right. Not a typo.

The neck assembly which includes the hose lists for $257.55

Now's a good time for the reproduction folks to jump in on that, you know, just in case. Dorman MIGHT have something, but not sure.
