No More GT500's in 2010

Ford is limiting GT500 production to 2000 units for model year 2010. They've already built 300 of which one is mine that should be here Monday. Dealers have already stopped taking orders.

Personally I think it's because of two reasons.

1) There are still a lot of 2008/9 models on lots because dealers got greedy.
2) Not a big market for high dollar muscle cars at the moment because of the economy.

Yup there are a lot of 08 and 09 models on lots. Chevy dealers might want to take notice and not mark up their Camaros. After you get past the gotta have guys the rest of the market is bargin hunting at the moment. Ford dealers turned a lot of people off with the ADMs. Had they sold at MSRP they most likey would have been gone closer to when they were produced.

I don't disagree, but I do think you are missing two other reasons.

3: GT500 production figures are and have been very optimistic if this is to be a long term offering. The downside to a limited production car is that you have to keep it limited, and Ford was arguably pushing more than a few too many GT500's over the curb.

4: Of the upcoming 2011 Mustang powertrain changes it is more than a little likely that the GT500 will be the first of the three regular production models to undergo the pending changeover likely contributing to an early exit here.

This is bad for other performance brands. It makes top cars seem expendable. With Ford being the only domestic automaker without bankruptcy court, GM and Chrysler critics will point to this as an opportunity to push an agenda against them.

They F'd up making the KR model so high priced and then bringing the new 500 that is a much better car for alot less money. Folks that bought a KR arent happy. Dealers also didnt do much for the buyers by marking up the 500's by considerable amounts. Now they cant give them away. Same thing happened with the terminators(03-04).

I have yet to meet or talk to an actual KR owner who is upset at what the 2010 GT500 bring to the table. People are in the market for or who have already purchased a KR didn't buy the car for what it had over the regular GT500.

Don't forget this reason.

Now that there is a limit on the 2010s, dealers can mark them up another 10k .. anyone want a 60k GT500?

If thats true, then they're probably going to come out with it at a later time after the others are gone.

At least you got to get one. Those are nice.
