So I went to trade in my 2010 SS for a 2012 SS

Went to the local dealer this evening to trade up to a 2012 AGM 1SS M6, they did a paint thickness test and said there was body work done to the car therefore lowering the trade in amount 3K, the car has never been in an accident or had any paint work done since I have owned the car.

Dealer stated that there was possible shipping damage done to the car and it was repaired, If there was any repair to the vehicle it was not disclosed at the time of purchase, is there a way to find out if there was in fact shipping damage to a car other than calling the dealer and hoping they will admit it?

They are just trying to rip you off. Go to another dealer who deserves your hard earned money.

Tell them to go kick rocks. They must have brought in some super NASA gear to do the "test" since the 5th gen paint has no thickness to speak of. I find it to be roughly the same as a sprinkling of powdered sugar on a cake.

Anyways, go elsewhere.

Dealer damage does happen. We've seen it .
But you'll never get a dealer to admit it.

Sorry there is almost no test that I know of that determina factory paint thickness. They wouldn't even have a record for that.

You mean like one of these? So easy a Caveman (dealer) can do it.
