Extended warranty on built cars?

Anyone ever had experience with using extended warranty with a modified ls3? Cam, heads, clutch, exhaust etc? Bank is offering 3 year 36k mile option for 1800. Buying a 2010 81k mile 2SS with 600hp.

I doubt it covers any mods. Check the fine print before purchasing any extended warranty..

What he ^^^^ said. Best to get the dealer/bank to specify warranty covers the car "as is"
then you're golden !

Just like when you go into F&I at a dealership, the extended warranty, gap insurance, tire protection, etc. are all products they want to sell you. The bank is selling you an aftermarket warranty for a stock 2010 SS. Once something breaks, you'll find that $1,800 did nothing but pad somebody's commission.

Read the fine print and any statements that the salesman or bank gives you concerning the extended warranty must be in writing. A lot of warranties also claim that there are no other warranties written or implied that can override the written policy. When making the sales deal, If in doubt leave it out!

Thx guys. I'll read the fine print...I'll have to ask the bank and see what it covers... might as well be up front and let them know it's been modified.

Post a followup and let us know what they say. If they say the warranty will cover the car because they're already part of the that's being sold as is get it in writing.

Might want to think twice about letting them know it's been modified. They may not want to finance it in that case. To the bank, it's a risk/reward situation and in their mind a modified car is a greater risk in terms getting their money back if you should default.

The warranty they are selling you is for a stock car. They will sell it to you because once you sign, any conflict is now between you and the company that underwrites the warranty. Invest that warranty money in a good set of tools.

Ended up buying a 2011 with only minor mods. Jannetty Racing 435rwhp with full exhaust. I did not mention any mods to the lender and seller of the warranty because they did not ask. I did spend the 1800 because this car only has 49k miles and is a year newer and it qualified me for the top package which is 5 year or 120k miles. Worth a shot. Thx everyone. If I ever need to use this, I'll let you know how it goes.
