I am having a similar issue shifting into 3rd. It feels as if i pulled up off the clutch too quickly, although the car doesn't jerk... it's more of a lumpy feeling. Going to have to bring it in to the dealership. It's a stock shifter too.

You must complete the shift into

This message will come on when:
• The engine coolant temperature
is higher than 76°C (169°F),
• The vehicle is going 24 to
31 km/h (15 to 19 mph) and
• The vehicle is at 21 percent
throttle or less.

I have SSE and stock shifter. Sync into 2nd is not as smooth as it should be and 3rd is terrible. I felt/heard it grind yesterday going into 3rd that seemed like there was no clutch at all. Definitely not a shifter or linkage problem and not a skip shift problem. I had noticed it getting more difficult to shift into 2nd and 3rd, but now that it is grinding gears, it is definitely going to the dealer for service.

Go get a SSE and you will see that it still does it.

Someone, for pete's sake, pipe up who has a stock shifter... It happens with stock, happens with LS1 tranny's, etc, etc, etc.

I am 99.999999% positive it's the synchro. The Hurst isn't the problem at all. In fact, my very occassional "grind," if you will, has been minimized since putting in the Husrt. Remember, this usually happens at WOT. ...not driving around doing 20mph. If you are barely on the gas and you go to shift to 2nd with low rpms and you suddenly get grinding, you GOT ISSUES> It's called shifting WAY...TOO...FAST!

Even a tuner said that here a while back...can't remember who or where. But, he said to allow the shifter to go into gear...instead of forcing it into gear and we'd all be fine.
Yeh its the sycros....I have stock shifter and driving "normaly" it chunks a little giong into 3rd. It has nothing to do with the CAGS or the eliminator. I put the eliminator on 1st week I had it. If I'm getting on it pretty good it floats right into all gears...so I'm not sure why but in normal driving it does seem to hick up a little into 3rd....anyone else had this?

That is a cold characteristic of the tremec transmissions.

Took my SS M6 to the dealer on thursday because i could not get it into 2nd with out a lot of grinding. After they had it for about a hour they told me that the syncro was bad and that they were going to have to order a new one from GM. Now the dealer is telling me that they can not get the syncro from GM and that they are going to have to replace the entire transmission. But it is going to take a coupe of days for the Service Rep to give the OK for the "Major Powertrain Replacement".

My car is still all stock and I have no trouble going into 2nd. I usually don't get the RPMs past 4-5k in 1st. I'll try it when I get on the freeway home today and see if I have trouble.

For the 1 --> 4 shift I just mash the clutch again and go into 2nd. At 1st it was weird cause I felt the stick moving where I didnt want it to go, but after getting used to that feeling I just reapp the clutch and go.

Bad synchros for sure. Made in Mexico Tremecs are well known for synchro defects.

If it only does it when cold, Royal Purple tranny fluid may help.
