Heater core

So just wanted to tell my LFX buds here if you see your windshield fogging or smell coolant or a rubbery smell beware your heater core may be going out. Found out the hard way when boiling coolant came out on the passenger side floor on my wife's feet. Been a week now and the car is still not done at the dealer, they have to remove the windshield and pull the entire dash out of the front to replace it. Search here they are giving out at 1-2 years left and right

It did it again. After a week in the dealer in June, its leaking coolant inside the car again and the smell is back. Here we go again.....

I've heard far too many similar stories.

The possibility of heater core failure was a concern of mine. Sorry to hear that happened not only once, but 2 times!!?

Waiting for return phone call from GM "district" service rep. No way the car is going back to the same dealer, they have screwed up all 3 of my chevys, idiots. Gave them a bad survey last time, they were calling within a couple days. Broken plastic parts and screws left inside car, 3 craftsman 1/4 sockets, multiple screws and clips, etc. Tried to return a dirty car to me after it was there 9 days outside, total morons.

would be nice if they still did the heater core like it was in my 88 Beretta, it sat in a pan with a drain so when the core went fluid leaked outside the car and not all over the inside.

Common sense design is not so common now, right? I'm sure design has improved elsewhere, but that's a pretty good setup they used to have.

Got mine back after 3 weeks, this dealer much better than last one. Car still has smell of coolant, cant seem to get rid of it, hopefully it will fade. If the 3rd one leaks I'm trading the car in and Chevy is gonna eat it.

Looks like GM doesn't want you to work on your own car.

So if I never use my heat will I stay immune to any possible heater core issues. Didn't realize this was a big issue....
