New Shoes for Z

Well am about to turn 3,900 miles and my Trofeo R's are about toast. So I saw that America's tire is having a sale for Labor Day - 10% rebate 4 tire purchase (or up to 20% if you have an AT credit card) and $80 rebate from Goodyear for Eagle F1 Supercar 3R - I decided to order a set.

Pricing was $345 per tire plus install costs and tax was $1,578 - less the $80 less the $315.6 - $1,182.40 OTD - or $295.60 per tire installed - mounted and balanced.

Be interesting how they compare to Trofeo R, which have gotten stupid expensive now that they have the Porsche NO rating on them. Tire rack has then for $520 per tire, AT had them for $865 per tire. Cheapest I found them was race shop in vegas at $465 per tire.

Can Always go back, but figured if these were good enough for ZL1 1LE they should be just fine for our Z

Went with 305 all around.

Will be here next week, will post up some photos once installed.

That's a great buy...thanks for sharing. Once I burn through this set, I have my eye on the new F1 as well.

I'm on my second set of the F1 Supercup 3 R. Love these tires. Great price at Tire Rack too.

I am finally wearing down my first set of 3R's. I believe that they last longer than Trofeo's and are every bit their equal on the track.

I am running -2.8 neg up front which greatly helps, accomplished with JP Superior solutions custom camber plates.

Will buy another set.

Well new shoes are on - car was jacked up to put on, since shop was afraid to put on the rack, so springs may need to settle back down before we get a good picture. But as you can see they look a bit like space savers - they definately don't fill the wheel wells like the Trofeo's do. Both are 305/30/19.

Here are few photos couple before and a couple after.

Got to ask, any tramlining noticed with the new tires?

The Goodyear 3R are superior to the Trofeo's for me.

1. Quieter
2. No Tramlining
3. Just as sticky
4. Nicer shoulder (the Trofeo's are very round and crack along the circumference)
5. Price
6. Width - the 305 Goodyear is as wide as a 325 Trofeo.

The only small knock on them is ride quality - they seem a little harder on bumps. Not a big deal for me.
