2014 1Le Tire Swap?!
I was debating on wether or not to swap the stock Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar's to some Michellin Pilot Super Sport 285/35/20's... I have only heard negative things about the F1's , and have heard alot of good about the PSS's. Does anyone have a set of PSS's that could tell me how much better they actually are, and if they are worth the money?

The goodyear's are fine. They offer better dry traction and I have not had any problem with them at high speeds in the rain. I drove hours in the rain from MD to Nashville, TN, and did not hydroplane once. Now they don't really warm up if its under 40.
I have also driven them this winter which was very cold here in MD. I of course did not drive in any type of snow or ice, but it got down to single digits. There is a warning about the tires cracking, but they didn't. Are your tires worn out? If not then you probably would not notice all that much if you did swap.

Aside from the low mileage of the gy, I prefer how they feel.
The only bad I have heard about the gy's is they are poor cold weather tires. But look at what they are. I dont expect all season performance out of them. And mine are crack free after last winter. |

I track and commute 3000 miles per month and would gladly sell you the set of pilot super sports that are in my garage...Eagles only for me, if you look back at my comments when I first got the car, I was just like you.....Not anymore! I assume you have winter tires or it gets parked?

I guess I was just worried because of all the complaints about the gy's not being all they are cracked up to be, and I, just like most, would like to get the best experience out of my car. Yes, it gets stored for winter, I will most likely keep them on for the year. Thanks!

I never had the GY on my car but drove a 1LE with them. I love my MPSS much more. The GY are great when hot but the MPSS can even hang in there when it gets cool out and are great in the rain. MPSS are also not as loud with road noise.
Now if you are tracking the car all the time the GY are probably what to stay with, but many Auto X 1LE guys love the MPSS also. |

Now that the warm weather is upon us...I'm going to drive on the GY's and see how I like them. There is a new tire coming in Aug/Sept time frame in our size. Been checking tire rack and BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S came up as new. Right now it's not available in our sizes, so looking forward to end of summer when they offer them in our sizes. Now there's yet another tire to consider.

We have only used the GY's and have had no wet or cold issues. I did have some hydroplaning, but speeds were very high in the rain on an on-ramp, and it was easy to get the car back. We do not face cold weather, here much, but when it is in the 40's they do not grip as well as when it is warmer, but I would expect that with any tire. We are on our second set, and when the time comes, we will get a third set.

I dislike my goodyears here in socal in the winter but when it warms up I fall back in love with them and the fact they are alot cheaper than the michelins. Seem to love picking up nails and screws though. If my wallet wouldn't throw up in my pocket i I would do the michelins. However my fronts are still good so I think for now a set of 305 goodyears out back should hold me over.
