Got some Mustang dude comin our way...
While I was at the carwash this afternoon I bumped into this guy with a really nice Fox-body Mustang Cobra, would just so happen that it's an '04 (last year for the Fox Stang Cobra's). Anyway I struck up a conversation with the guy and we got to talking about the new Camaro, he said he has every intention of checking one out and possibly even pulling the trigger. I didn't tell him I'm considering doing the same, but he did mention that none of the other new muscle cars from the other "Big 3" looked appealing in anyway, he dismissed the Challenger and said he didn't like the fact that the DEW98 Stangs have LRA's (which we both laughed about that being a way Ford saw they could save money to improve their financial situation right now, especially considering how many Mustangs they sell). Anyway, thought I'd share and I think there will be a slew of converts out there from other high performance cars once the 5thgen goes on sale.

I thought the 04's were SN-95 bodies. But that isn't really the point here. I think we'll get a lot of people like this. Yes, there are the devotees in all three camps, but there are also a number of people who just want an affordable RWD performance coupe, and they'll pick whichever one they think is best, regardless of manufacturer. Glad to hear that at least one person in that group is looking our way. From a purely objective standpoint, all the indicators point to our pony car being the best. The G8 gets great reviews on its handling, which is impressive for such a large car. Our likely powertrains are more powerful than Ford's or Dodge's, level for level. Styling, of course, is subjective, but I think the Camaro offers the best combination of modern design with heritage references. Of course I'm biased, but I truly think we'll have a winner.

We'll also more than likely have the most technologically advanced pony car, ever. On top of that the Camaro will be the most fuel efficient in its class. And lastly, between the 3, the Camaro will probably end up looking the least retro. Thank God for that.

yeah i think that camaro will have alot more modern technology to it also. i think things like navigation dvd,HUD, auto start, and a whole lot of gm performance parts, that you can put on it strait from the dealer, will help the camaro bring alot of the "fence riders" over.

GM doesn't offer traditional nav in most of its cars now, as it intends for Onstar to take its place. The Mustang does offer nav, at the usual insanely inflated prices. HUD and autostart are still up in the air, and Ford has their own counterpart to GMPP. So they're not that far behind on the tech and aftermarket front.

almost all of chevy vehicles have auto start, and i saw somewhere that cadillac is getting involved with the interior of the camaro which makes you think you will get alot of the plushness and the quality cadillac has. i believe navigation will be offered in it at a upgraded model. as far as the HUD i believe the camaro has alot of styling from the vette, concidering the corvette designers helped out a little in the car, and i think little things like the HUD will play a key roll in making the camaro a sports car just like it has the vette. it has the g meter, speed, rpm etc....

Unless GM is swayed by the negative response to Onstar substituting for nav, we won't see Nav in the Camaro. Notice no current Chevy vehicles offer traditional nav. It doesn't matter to me though, as I consider factory nav about as big a waste of money as you can get. Aftermarket pieces are 1/10th the price, can be taken from car to car, and offer just as many features. There was a debate on another thread about the likeliness of a HUD option. I'll see if I can find it. As far as upscale interior trim, if they add something close to what we saw in the concept as an upgrade option I'd be happy. I love the leather wrapped dash and panels, but it makes sense to offer a more traditional interior for the large numbers of buyers who want to keep the price down.

A french stitched leather dash is probably not on the cards for the Camaro, as they'd have to increase the price to compensate for the time and cost for making such an interior. More than likely the dash material (also appears to be from looking at the official GM spyshot) is like what you'll find on the dash of the latest GMT900 trucks, which looks pretty h.q. to me.

cadillac doesnt have leather stiched dash. my grandmas 05 sts has a hard plastic that is kind of a textured feel. my grandpas 07 dts doesnt have leather either. im sure it will be the textured look like cadillac has.
