I'm not that familiar with the Corvette line....They seem to come up frequently in regards to the Z/28...Trying to get a handle on why the Corvette's "influence" on this thing is in the mix as much as it is...

Is it a choice for track times?...A choice based on pricing?...A desire for the similar engine?....Is the Z/28 stepping on the Corvette's image or something?....Hopefully you get my drift...Not being negative...

To me, they seem like two different cars completely...Not seeing why the Corvette is such a factor here...

Slam me if you want...(don't worry, I won't become a regular in this thread...lol)...But any basic thoughts would be helpful...Thanks, Tom

...or, just ignore this post completely...lol...

Quickly now (I'm slammed today leaving for a weeks business show), the pricepoints are comparable. The Z/28 would be a toy for me. No need for utility. The new Corvette is OUTSTANDING! They will be close in capabilities. Hence the quandry (though I am a Camaro guy first).
Agreed. I can't recall anyone getting slammed, flamed or in any way denigrated over a question and a good one at that.

I look at it this way. They are two different tools that cost (estimated) similar $$ and are both intended for track performance.

Both of these tools have unique attributes. Some prefer one over the other yet some appreciate both for what they are, their separate histories and the different ways they go about that track duty.

Some would say white wine vs. red. Others might say scotch vs beer. Either way they end up doing the same thing..............driving excitement.

But that it a great question, oft debated and argued. But we generally don't argue much in The House.

Good question..and there are a bunch of good egg's here so The House of Z is a Woosah place...always feel free to come in and chat and enjoy the company. There are some very knowledgable people who frequent these parts. For me, it's a lifelong love affair with Camaro Z/28. Corvette's are the cousin to Camaro, so it's a natural curiosity out of family ties to know and love it. They are intertwined, yet seperate. They have shared technology. A pure two seater performance model, and a 2+2 coupe optioned from grocery getter to perfomance model. Many similarities, many differences. It come down to asthetics, personal preference, life style, and affordability. Some judge metrics of performance and value soley on a performance car purchase. I am a dyed in the wool Camaro guy, always have, always will be. I love the C7 'Vette, it's such a beautiful car. It stunning actually. But, I would feel guilty jumping ship.

Plain nonsense.

They'll use the name in any racing series they see fit to. Just tweaking it to fit within the rules. Like the new Vyper, which has 200 less HP than the street version. Maybe the new series starting next year?

That's what I'm thinking. The Boss can be run in SCCA events so I don't see why they wouldn't allow the Z/28 to run....

Yeah, I know the IROC isn't everybody's favorite Camaro on here but the photoshop was done nicely. There's some definite potential for blacking out the area under the headlights now that I've seen that pic. Maybe they'll do it for the 1LE.
