Hidden Gems/Questions

I have owned my 2LT for about a year and a half. I have never really been into modifying cars, so I started reading the forums more and learning from all of you guys. Yesterday I went out and looked into my engine bay and found a couple parts. I was presently surprised to have Doug Thorley headers and I think a catch can?? So my first question is how would I go about cleaning the catch can and how do I tell if I have other mods that may not be visible? Sorry for the large pictures.

Thanks for any advice.

the only other mods that i could think of that wouldnt be visible are a ported throttle body/ ported intake manifold.. black iceolator. you can see a slight raise on your intake manifold if you have the black ice. pop off your cai tube to your throttle body and see if it looks swirled to see if its ported.

um there might be countless other mods that have been done that are internal that you would never check unless you knew. check out your suspension as well. springs/sways etc. you might have a tune as well...no real way of telling since thats the way the cars been since you got it.

as far as the catch can i havent seen one like that so i couldnt tell ya.

It's a Mike Norris catch can, there is a drain cock on the bottom of the can that opens by twisting. Make sure you have a cup under it or you will have a mess. I drain mine at least at every oil change, more often if I can remember.

I wonder if your car has been tuned.

And if you haven't emptied that catch can in 1 1/2 years... Yikes! Open the flood gates

Thanks for the reply's!! I have not emptied the catch can since I got it ... It only has 22k miles and I have only put 1k on it myself. I will have to do some more research on the TB and black iceolator, I am going to install those if they are not already.

Nice surprise to find some cool mods.

Those are the Doug Thorley short headers.

Check out this thread for other mod ideas.

If you click on my build thread next to my signature, you will find my list of mods that will give you an idea of what can be done to our baby V6 to further enjoy the Camaro excitement.

For sure you will want to empty that catch can every oil change. I find we gather approx. 1 oz. of oil for every 1000 miles driven. Cool thing is we are saving it from entering the intake manifold which does not get washed over by fuel to rinse that gunk away.

There are a couple GOOD threads on both the ported throttle body and ice-olator, good mods to include on your build.

You and I are a little too anal about dirty engine bays.

Thanks for the reply. I have already looked at your build you are the main reason that I want to mod.
