Finished Mucking Around With Lights

Think I finally have all my lighting and other jobbies sorted to my satisfaction on my 2013 SS,

Lights.
Front DRL changed to LED.
Front Turn signals to LED with resistors added
Rear Inners Red Tail Light and Red Stop Light Dual Brightness LED.
Rear Outers Red Tail Light and Amber Turn Signal, Switchback LED.
DRL-1 Module from Daniel Stern Lighting to convert front side markers into side repeaters as well as markers
Front Side Markers Yellow LED
Rear Side Markers Red LED
Licence Plate, White LED
Interior, White LED map light with Factory Dual Colour (Blue and Orange) Foot well LED Kit
Centre Rear Fog changed to Red LED and Folded up behind Rear Valance to retain Factory/US Look. Gives a nice under rear red glow if switched on while folded up.....bit too chavy?

Wheels re-furbished and powder coated silver.
New centre caps
Tower Brace
Oil & Filter (Mobil 1 Fully Syn)
Diff oil & additive changed
K&N air filter cleaned
Dash cam
New SS embroidered mats
SS dash badge
New pollen filter
Fuse Pull
Got Carfax from US dealer for free. one owner vehicle with no bad history
New wiper blades

Just coolant change to do, and install billet alloy pedals, and I'm ready for summer.

Oh, and some polish to be applied.......switching from Autoglym which I've used for many years to Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 anyone else use that one?

Meguiar's NXT = two thumbs up....

I am working on mine by claying first with Meguiar's Gold clay, then Meguiar's deep paint clean and finally with Meguiar's NXT - it slow so I do a fender or so at time...

But the results are worth it...

re: the DRL-1 flashing sidemarker module ....did you install them as written up on the product web page under where it says Module method: Works on any vehicle or are they considered being the Crossfeed Method as they have 2 wires leading into each socket so they get installed according to where it says " Here's how the system is wired to make the front side markers do double duty as side turn signal flashers"
https://www.danielsternlighting.com/...rkerflash.html

BTW good choice of light mods

You only need one module to run left and right, and mine is wired as below

'To hook up the DRL-1 module as a side marker controller, connect the wires as follows:

Yellow: Tap into parking lamp feed wire
Green: To ground
Blue: Not used
Red: Tap into right front turn signal feed wire
Brown: To lamp end of cut right front side marker feed wire
Pink: Tap into left front turn signal feed wire
Violet: To lamp end of cut left front side marker feed wire
White: Not used

Hey thanks for the reply and video (looks & works perfectly !). Could you please clarify where you wired the Yellow wire? as our cars with Halos have a separate turn signal housing harness feed connection from the parking lamp/halo feed which is combined with the headlight housing harness feed.

Also where did you wire the Green wire?

Thanks much again!

Ordered some Meguiar's Deep Paint Clean to prep before polishing, cheers for the info

While I'm pretty handy at most things, after poking around in the front wiring to try and find the correct wires (bear in mind mine has already had the wiring modified so the side markers were repeaters only for UK regs)

Things in there were not as I expected, and not wanting to short anything out and risk damaging the BCM, I decide to get an auto electrical specialist here in the UK who was familiar with Camaro wiring to install the module, which he did in around 35 minutes.

For anyone in the UK, I can recommend this guy. He imports and does all the IVA conversions, really knows his stuff, and had a yard full of imports including a very new looking Corvette C7still on US plates.

Check him out here,

Don't think I can come across the pond so I'll ask Daniel Stern himself how the wiring is done for a Camaro. Thanks again.

It appears from the video that the sidemarker came on when the halo came on. Did you turn the dash control knob from Auto to the Parking Lamp setting to make the halos come on? Is it correct that the front sidemarkers will come on whenever the halos are on which is the way I think it's wired to work.

Reason I ask is that I have the Gen5diy Always-on Halo harness to have my Halos on during the day as well as at night. So if I install the DRL-1 harness then I should expect my front sidemarkers to be on during the day also. Not particularly desirable but I can live with it.

I do NOT have the Halo harness, so my Halo's and side markers only come on when the control is moved to parking lamps only, or automatically along with the headlights.

I assume your harness adds the Halo's to the daytime DRL's?

If you want the front side markers on only at night you will need to tap into the rear parking lamps circuit so they only come on with the tail lights?

Guess it means just running the one wire from the module to the rear parking lamp circuit

To be safe I'd contact a decent auto electrical guy as you don't want to damage the BCM if you short something out?

Cheers,

J
