Diablo sport predator tune - not initially impressed.

So I bought this diablosport, and people we're telling me that after you tune the car, it's a 'night and day' difference. So I installed my k&n aircharger cai, then did the predator tune, and it actually seemed like the car had less power than when it was stock? So the tune I installed was the 'diablosport tune - 93 octane'

I don't know what some people's version of 'night and day difference' is, but that sure wasn't mine..

So going forward, I installed a flowmaster american thunder cat back, and basically just a little more sound, no more power, and 2 less mpg! wtf? lol. And that was after I reinstalled the tune after exhaust mod.

Am I missing something here?? Any ideas?

I don't think those canned tunes do much if anything on a LS3. A lot of the wow factor comes from tuning the automatic transmissions. Contact Ted Jannetty and see what he will charge you to do a tune for your LS3 and ask him if you will be able to tell the difference.

It is very difficult to have any tune do much for your vehicle with a generic tune, it really has to be dialed in on a dyno for a true tune that wil take advantage of your Camaro's true potential. The "canned" tunes in Diablo or any hand held are basic tunes to make a car run well enough to get it to a dyno and be tuned properly... This is not to say that the hand helds are not great tools, there are just too many variables to get a cover all prepackaged tune to be highly efficient.

I noticed a slight change when adding the diablo. But i really didnt do it for the hp gains. The car is plenty fast for me as it is. I did it to get rid of the annoying AFM.

what yours didnt work? You have to go in and modify the tune. It isnt preloaded to turn off AFM.

With the SLP CAT-back and Volant CAI I installed on my SS, I was taking +22 air and my check engine light came on a few days after these mods. I was told that SuperChips would resolve my problem. So I purchased it and put it in. This did not resolve my problem and I wasn't really impressed with Superchips.

So a friend told me about the Predator. I took back the superchip and started messing with the predator. After reading some posts on diablosports.com, I wasn't the only person in America having this problem.

I proceeded to install the "diablo tune". This is the 93% octane tune but again, this didn't resolve my problem. My check engine light was still on. So I read and learned about the "real time" logging you can do on this device. Wow, I was impressed and shocked as too what you can monitor.

After enabing this feature, I quickly was able to adjust my fuel banks to compensate for the +22 air I was getting. Also, I was able to adjust Wide Open Throttle (WOT) settings. Now, my engine light is off and the car runs like crazy !

In my opinion, the diablo was much cheaper than SuperChip. I would STRONGLY recommend this device to any camaro owner that has modified their car. It helped me balance everything out and get the max performance of my SS.
