I visited with my dad today. Physically he seemed stronger but he has definitely lost ground cognitively. When I got there he was in the dining room having a snack. He seemed sort of out of it. He looked up & spoke but kept sitting there. He had finished his snack but had a little pink lemon aide left. I asked him if he wanted it & he just pushed it forward. I tried to get him to go with me to his little "apartment" but he just kept sitting there in a rather blank stare. One of the staff came over & brought him his walker & got him to stand up. When we got to his room the race was on his TV. He kept trying to comment on it but had a great deal of difficulty formulating a sentence. He only managed to put together a coherent comment a couple of times. So sad tot see. But he was walking better. They had put his matress on his bed without the box springs as it was too high for him to manage to get up on after he got home from the hospital. When we got ready to go he walked with us. He would not use his walker but walked with us down the hall. It seemed like he thought he was going with us. I told him I'd walk with him back to the dining room as it was getting close to suppertime. A staff member met us halfway down the hall & went with him the rest of the way back. Just sad.

Norm....at this point, I don't know when the pool will be done. They have about a week's worth of work left, but they are due to disappear for a week. Nice photo!

Jan, sorry to hear of your dad. It's never pleasant to watch parents go through this. Watched my mother and father physically deteriorate.

Did yard work today until about 11 AM when it was up to 105*. Topped out at 109*. Claire is slowly walking around with no cane but is recuperating from the 24 hour virus. She's had a tough 7 weeks.

Good morning. It is going to be another hot steamy day with a chance of pop-up afternoon showers. Classic Tennessee summer weather. Coffee time, getting ready for another work week. Have a good one everyone.

Yeah Baby! Love this nice weather! Mid 70s during the day and nothing but Sunshine. Evenings hi 50s! Took the Beast out yesterday and it was Fun Fun Fun! Took the off-ramp at 50+mph and didn't even get a hop or squeal out of those tires! Wow, I was impressed on how crazy sticky they are. I was giggling all the way!

Good evening crew. Just an average day. A brief shower dirtied my clean Pepper and more rain tomorrow. That is okay though. Mainly I wanted to get this stuck on almost concrete-like, clay spatter & stuck on grass from last week & that got done. I stayed up too late last night & am sleepy. So earlier to bed tonight. Sweet dreams crew.

This has been the spring from hell and now the Summer seems to want to follow. We have had 10.35 inches of rain just in this month. :( The winter from hell now becomes the summer from the same place :(

We haven't had measureable rain here in 114 days. But monsoon season is coming.

SPORTS UPDATE: Go Dores! Vandy hangs on to win the first game of the College World Series Finals. They beat Virginia 9-8. The team is now one win away from bringing home the national title!

Update:
Tax documents (I think) are finished.
College hired an architect to co teach my fall advanced level design studio. Told her I would send my revised course documents last weekend. Somehow, cracked a molar, pain, fixed yesterday. Still enjoying a really sweet pain killer today. Have to email her this week will send her revised course documents. I am officially on paid vacation leave until mid Aug.
Weather in Ottawa: 50s to high 70s, mostly sunny the last few weeks. Humid moving in so perhaps will turn on A/C next week to keep old cats comfortable. Don't hate me, we have 5 months of winter in Ottawa.

Things will officially be back to normal around here as Claire returns to work tomorrow. She still has therapy twice a week, but now is walking without a cane. She used up 95% of her vacation while recuperating, so I don't think we'll be doing any more long get aways this year. We are going to Sedona during our anniversary, which I really enjoy visiting! One of these years, I'l like to spend more than a weekend up there, as there is lots to do, but we never have the time.

Everyone's weather seems to be from one extreme to another today.

I tried to call by baby boy yesterday for his birthday by calling my daughter. Ryan won't give me his cell #. Jina was just landing in Vegas where they are meeting to celebrate his 21st birthday together. She assured me via text, she'd call me later. I tried again & she texted she was in a spa as a treat from Ryan for her birthday (early present). Again I asked her to call when done but no call. I guess Ryan did not want to talk to his mother. Maybe they are just having too much fun. Anyway I told Jina to tell him I love him & happy birthday.

What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas! Really??? 21 year old male celebrating his Bday is going to make time to call mommy? Good grief, he's getting drunk, naked, drunk some more, and naked some more! They're probably doing it Everywhere! Men's room, ladies room, elevator, hotel room, on the dresser, in the shower, on the balcony......and that's just Round One. Boys will be Boys! Thank god they're only 21 once.
