I have kept all but two of my cars made since, like, 1980, for over 200,000 miles.

The exceptions:

Ford Escort
Chevy Tracker AKA Suzuki something-or-other

Modern cars are built to last, mechanically, for a very long time assuming you do routine maintenance and don't live in the salt belt. I do live in the salt belt, and all of my old cars have been killed by corrosion, not by wearing out mechanically.

At 105,000 miles, you should be thinking about replacing the serpentine belt and all the rubber hoses even if they look OK.

Why not keep the car another 100K?

I'd drive until the wheels fell off. Then I'd bolt on new wheels and keep driving it.

I did all of the regular maintenance but my radio and HVAC controls had to be replaced at 102,000 miles and then the engine grenaded at 114,000 with no warning. I decided to fix it and drive it for now. I pissed off some forum members for complaining about it so while it is nice to hear about all of the high mileage units running out there not all do make it.

Thanks for all the input all! I feel a bit more at ease knowing there's some other higher mileage cars out there. I love the looks and reliability I've have with my Camaro, and every time I think about trading it in, I get a little sad about not keeping it. I'm only having one issue right now (that I brought up on another thread) about some water leakage, but thanks to some more great input, I'll be checking on a fix for that this weekend.
