I had the same issue, Error Code PO440, Evap system failure. Took it to the dealer, they said they would have to drop the rear end to replace the faulty valve that was hung wide open, bill would be $ 1300.00 + and to beat it all, it's not an emissions control warranty item, only the true exhaust system is covered, not these little electrical appurtenances. He said drive it, the performance will not be affected, no problem. So, rather than calling Chev. and whining about something, I chose to leave them alone and let them suffer from the result of their not taking care of their problem. As soon as I get this problem fixed, along with the twice broken drivers seat electrical motor and a new air conditioner compressor, I plan to sell it.( 103,000 miles, 2010 model)
What will I buy ? Another Camaro, of course. I've never received so many compliments on a car in my life. It's only an RS with Red Jewel Tint Coat paint, but folks just have to tell you how beautiful your car is. It's like what I would imagine it would be like dating Jennifer Lawrence. Yep. |

Wow, so I disconnected my battery to clear my code... stayed clear for an hour or so but the CEL is back on. I'll still have to confirm that it's the same code (p0449), but I really hope I don't have to deal with this kind of repair bill...
Seems to be a bit common - what's it take to get a TSB for a prematurely failed item? Since the warranty is worthless in this case... I guess I will take it in to the dealer Monday or Tuesday and hope for the best

It's always tough to determine whether a vehicle's warranty would be applied before an official GM diagnosis is performed. While it seems your wife's Camaro may have expired on its bumper-to-bumper warranty, there is a good chance (again, pending diagnosis) that any powertrain-related issues that are diagnosed as defects in materials or workmanship would be covered by the 5-year/100,000 mile warranty. I could explore some options if the vehicle is serviced outside of warranty although I'm unable to make any guarantees. William R. Chevrolet Customer Care |

So finally made it to the dealer for the P0449 code. Paid my $100 diagnostic charge and got the news about the actual repair I dreaded - replace vent valve solenoid. Looks like a $900 job
Don't suppose one of you customer service folks can help me out here?

Would someone dare make a hole on the body over this god forsaken vent valve solenoid?
I'm seriously considering it since it may fail in the future and this car I'm keeping forever. Since the only other way to get to it is by removing the exhaust, rear suspension and lowering the gas tank.... |
