Borla ATAK or S-type? Which do you prefer?

Hello - my current set up is long tube headers, high flow cats, resonator delete, x-pipe, and a magna flow axle back. I love the deep throaty sound of the magna flow but I just wish it were louder. Does anyone have any experience with a similar setup as me with the Borla ATAK axle back or the Borla S-Type? Would love to hear all thoughts and opinions. Thanks!

I met with a couple of Camaro groups in my area to listen to what they had. After bugging a bunch of people, I chose the Borla S-type. The Atak was louder but too raspy for my taste, especially with long tube headers.
Caution, the drone on either will make freeway driving miserable. I had to reach out to Solo for a pair of "J" pipes. Couldn't be happier now.

I have Kooks LT Headers and Hi-Flow Cats with Borla S type on back. I could not be happier. It is exactly what I was hoping for.

Like everyone is saying. ATAK if you aren't going headers, S-Type if you are going headers.

I was just going to ask about drone. All the sound clips are worthless to me because they don’t give an indication of drone. Frankly word of mouth is better and I’ll never buy another exhaust without first hand experience.

Drone is probably dependent on a number of things. I have the exhaust I listed in post above along with a GPI VVT SS1 cam and 3.91 gears. I am very pleased with the lack of drone at any speed above 60mph.

I had 0 drone with stock exhaust and Borla Atak cat back. I get slight drone at certain RPM now with headers and catless but it is not bad. As loud as my car is outside (ridiculously loud) it is actually not very loud inside with the windows up. It is quite a pleasant drive with the A/C on cruising around. Even windows down it is not very loud cruising. Accelerating to the cruising speed can be noisy depending how hard you press the GO pedal but if I baby it, it is quite tame. Yes it is snappy and raspy though. Not like my Ram flowmaster which is deep rumbly and throaty. My truck has more drone though.

I have had both S type and Atak catbacks, both with High flow cats and headers. S type has the deep classic muscle car sound and the Atak is just loud. I did have a decent amount of drone at highway speeds with the S type but when i switched to the Atak it improved significantly. Really just depends on how you want the sound. With my cam the Atak sounds amazing.

TSP headers, hi-flo cats, Jegs x-pipe and ATAKs. Drone from 1000 to 1100 rpm if you are easing on the throttle. I have a vert and just drove from Michigan to Florida then spent 4 days up running the Tail of the Dragon and the car was very tame until you did not want it to be. My buddy has the same set up with S-Type and there isn't much difference in volume. His does have more rumble than my ATAKs. Mine has more of a sharp bark at WOT.

SSkat what caused the drone with the S type? Did you tune out the AFM? I have that setup and would like to get the S type. Thanks!

Solo can cure drone with their J-pipes. I had to have a local shop weld in the J pipes but the difference was night and day. Love the new sound and no more drone. These forums have a lot of info on Solo J-pipes.
