Car ride quality

Hello everyone
I got a 23 zl1 after my ss 1le was stolen. I daily drove the 1le and found the ride quality pretty good. I did change the tires to Michelins ps4s.
I’ve driven rhe zl1 for about 1k miles and it feels more “bouncy” or jittery when cruising around, either in tour or sport mode compared to the 1le.
Could that be the extra weight on the front from the supercharger that makes it feel that way?
Anybody else experience this?
I did make sure that the shipping blocks were removed from the front springs btw.

Thank you.

I have a 2023 1SS which fills pretty good.
My ZL1 in touring has about the same feeling to me as far as bumps.
I believe its all about the perception from each person.

Now on other posts I've read the 1le has been known to be terrible as a daily.

Tires probably made a big difference. Try the ZL1 with PS4S tires for a fair comparison.

I think my completely stock '16 Sonic rides firmer than the ZL1 in Touring, but that's just me. I don't have an opinion on a fair comparison otherwise. My opinion, though, on my ZL1 is that I like the ride. I can definitely tell the MRC is there over my Sonic, especially over dips and humps in the road. The ZL1 definitely glides over them smoother.

My 2024 ZL1 vert was just delivered to me last week, and the first thing I noticed was that the front end was weirdly bouncy and made thunking bottoming-out sounds. Sure enough, the shipping spacers were left in by the dealer make ready. Not that that's a unique experience; my 21 ZL1 was delivered to me by a different dealer with the spacers left in, too!

I’m eventually going to switch the tires to the ps4s or even the ps5s as a daily. But don’t want to drop $2k on tires when these only have 1700 miles on them. I have the ps4s on my 2002 that’s lowered and they made it ride better than it ever did before.

Gonna ask the dumb question... OP did you check the tire pressure? Some dealers air 'em up to 40+

Oh yeah, great call. So often overlooked...

I had the dealer fill the tires on my 911S to 40/45 once, but pretty much everyone runs them at the "comfort" pressures of 30/33. You *really* notice that driving out of the dealer, and not in a cool way.

I haven't noticed any difference in the ride quality between my SS 1LE and my ZL1. Even driving them back to back. As others have said the tire pressure difference could be what you are sensing or if the tires aren't same that could be the difference.

The only difference I've noticed in the two cars in terms of ride and handling is that the nose of the ZL1 definitely feels heavier when cornering.

When you swap the Goodyears for PS4S you’ll notice a softer ride but you’ll also give up steering response. For a street driven car they’ll be the best compromise of handling, ride quality, and adverse weather drive ability.

This and even outside temps can make a difference. Tires are much more firm when it's cold outside.

I don't know, Arpad. Those Supercar3's suck in the rain, but other than that they're pretty good.

Yes, the reason I said the comparison wasn't apples to apples is that OP had PS4S tires on his SS 1LE, and his preliminary conclusion seemed to be that the stock ZL1 was more "bouncy" or jittery than his previous SS 1LE. For this to be valid, the tires should match at the very least.
