Thanks Darth. I love the 3gens. They're modern rolling art IMHO, plus I suppose they remind me of the 1980's which is kind of cool too

I'm not going to get into a pissing match here.

But the HO Z/28 Camaro was a much better choice then the Cross Fire engine which was introduced in 1983 and discontinued in 84.

The 82 Z/28 that I had, gray with T roofs and Posi rear end was a very fast car, compared to the other cars that GM was selling at the time. A poor mans Corvette.

It blew a head gasket one night and puked the engine all over the ground.

The 83 Cross Fire engine - didn't even make it past the warranty stage before it blew up.
I think that they all blew up.

The 84 HO was a pretty good Camaro.
You could take the ignition out and install a MSD and take the carb off it and replace it with a Rochester carb off a 1970 455 Buick and the car would run pretty good.

I had a 85 Trans Am WS6, 5.0 H.O. I think the big difference with the T.A. was that it came with a 3" collector instead of a 2.5". Anyone know if there were any other differences? That was my first sports car.....god I miss her!

Great post! I have one of these H.O. Camaros too. This one is a 1983...one of 3224 made. I have owned the Car since 1988. This one also has the seats that say Camaro on them. I tell folks that I am willing to take on any 1983 Corvette. ( There was a skip in production and there were no 1983 Corvettes)
Have not done it in a long time, But this Z/28 ran something like 15.2 @93Mph at Milan Dragway.

My sister bought a '84 HO Z/28 off the lot - about 1 1/2 years old at the time.
It was white and had a blue interior from what I remember.
It had Recaro Bucket Seats.
16 inch wheels and tires?

I think it was one of the last ones made before the IROC came out.

It got rear ended one night with one of my brothers behind the wheel.
Roof buckled in the middle of the T tops rail.
It was never right after that.
Car had 3:73 rear end, Posi 700R4

Other brother bought a wrecked Red IROC shortly after that.
I never had a ride in that car.
Was a POS from what I remember.
I bought him a new interior for it once and hauled it all home in my Monte Carlo SS
They changed the cam - put on a different set of Tune Port Heads and a camshaft upgrade.

Other brother bought a Black - wrecked IROC with Tune Port engine.
Car ran ok - but had issues.
Too many tickets forced him to trade it off on a 1995 GMC Jimmy.

Buddy had a 1984 HO Camaro
Mikey Baer - he would leave what we called Bear Tracks - black marks on the road where ever he went. The engine was either at idle or full wide open throttle - nothing in between.
We put like 7 rear ends in the car before he sold it.
It had a 4 speed manual transmission.
One of those hoods with the fake doors that would open by vacuum and a switch when the throttle was open all the way. I don't really think that it did anything to make the car run faster...
It had 16 inch wheels and would run pretty good.

I thought that the Z/28 used on the TV program Simon and Simon was a HO, but it was only a '82

Probably THE most collectible Gen-3s were the L69-powered R7Us built in '86...forerunner of the vaunted 1LE...

Only in Canada, you say?
