Very upset with Chevy

Well it started out as a normal day. I drove to work without a problem but when I went on my lunch break my check engine light came on so I took my Camaro to the closet auto store to see what the code was. Well come to find out the code was p0449 the canister purge solenoid. I went ahead and took it to the dealership that I usually go to and told them what was going on they went ahead and looked at and told me that they would need to keep the car for a day or two to change the canister and that it would not be covered under my warranty since I had over 50,000 miles on the car. The dealership wants $700 to fix my car and it has to be inspected within the month to get my tags renewed. After I left the deanship I called GM customer service and was told the same thing that I would have to take of this issue out of pocket because it is a maintenance issue and not a defective part. What should I do, I really do not have the money to fix this issue and my trust in GM is lost. I have been reading up on the issue on here and it seems like everyone that has had the same issue has had it covered by the dealership or the warranty. Please Help me

If you are still in warranty and that is a covered part, then the dealer needs to man up. But if both the dealer and GM customer service said you are out of warranty and its a repair you need to pay for, then stop crying. Things break and they need to be fixed. Welcome to life

Never heard of that, you sure?

Also, to smokingcamaro on 4/26 this year you posted about a high cost for the 30k maintenance and said you were under that but wanted to check. 20k miles in a month is a LOT of driving.

I don't understand.

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/b...purge+solenoid

The part is $39. It looks like something that just attaches to a vacuum line. Pop it off and reinstall in a couple minutes. Sounds super easy.

Well if you would do a little research on this, it is a common problem on the Camaro and has been fixed free of charge by GM. All I am asking for is if anyone else has had this same issue. Not for you to tell me to get over it!!!! Thanks for your input

Found this http://www.chevrolet.com/owners/warranty.html , so what's "Specified major components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first."?

Definitely check if it falls under the emissions warranty, which is longer than the regular bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Consider replacing the canister yourself. Pay the dealership their diagnostic fee and do the work yourself. $700 seems absolutely insane.
